Tonight Defense dominated the first game of the D. Lipscomb (3A)-Hillwood (5A) matchup. Lipscomb offense still looking for answers as the defense continues to play well. The Mustangs kept Antonio Lewis in check for the most part while the offense threw 2 interceptions and killed two drives. The backups for Lipscomb was able to move the ball thru the air and got into field goal range near the end of the game as Senior Jason Hull hit the game winner. Game two featured Antioch and Maplewood. Lipscomb travels to play Greenbrier in week one. Visit The Mustangfanpage.

Lipscomb also held out a few players on the offense which could account for some its sluggish plays. Starting TB, Matt Elrod and OG John Austin Wilkerson were held out. OG Burton Saunders injured a knee in the Antioch scrimmage on Tuesday. All did not play. Have to leave for now, Class is about to start. Need a comp ticket to a Lipscomb game, call the athletic office and ask for me, Troyleetim and I will hook you up.

Does anyone know how the Antioch vs Maplewood game turned out?

Maplewood won thumb

Lipsomb's defense continues to look great. They obviously have an excellent place kicker from the scores of their scrimmages and jamborees. Offensively, they still have a long ways to come. That's okay though because offense is usually the last thing to come around while defensively you just find eleven guys who will surround the football. That is something Lipscomb without question has.

Yea, offensively Lipscomb has not looked great. The O-Line has had some problems and they have made some bad decisions. Most of that should get better with experience and once the season starts they will prepare individually for each team which they seem to do a good job of every year. I wouldn't worry too much because right now it looks like they should only have to score 14+ a game to win.
