In west tennessee it has got to be the Westview and GC game. They were down by 17 points with what i would say like 5 minutes left. They scored a touchdown then stopped Westview and scored again and then got the onside kick back and then scored with 5 seconds left. People from around Tennessee other than west tn give us your big upsets or if you think there was a bigger one in west tn give it to us.

I'll take Gibson County over Westview. I know, Westview was without Markei Guy, and if tonight didn't tell the rest of the world that he is the best player in 2A, I don't know what will.

 

Congratulations to Coach Doug Argo and the Pioneers. The turnaround in that program in the past two years...wow...it's hard to argue that the win against Obion Central last year to snap the 39 game losing streak didn't start something good.

 

I would hazard a guess that the ONLY people picking Gibson County in that game last night, Guy or no Guy for Westview, would have been the most diehard Pioneer fans.

 

Absolutely the biggest upset of the season in West TN.

 

On another note, had USJ not collapsed late, they had a shot to beat Milan, leading them 15-13 midway through the third quarter. Great gameplan by Coach Marley to attack the Bulldogs through the air. They may not win many games in Region 7-2A this year, but they will adjust in the long run.

      I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"

      Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!

      I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
