Top Defense In The State

I know that its hard to narrow it down to one defense that u can say is better than the rest, but one of the best in the state or atleast the mid-state has to be Brentwood. They have allowed 60 points in 9 games (6.6 per game). It could be a lot lower, 23 of those points have been allowed in the 4th quarter when the team has been up by more than 28, so im guessing at that time a mix of the second and third team defenses are in, most likely playing against the frist team O's. In a losing effort they held Ravenwood to 14 points, the same as BA. Smyrna is averaging 28 points per game, Brentwood held them to 9. Franklin is averaging 34 points a game, Brentwood held them to 7 points. If defense wins championships, well Brentwood is making a very good case why they should be respected come playoff time. If your got comments on Brentwood, or you got a team with a good defense feel free to respond.

Ridgeway has to be up there. They have given up 90 points in 9 games!

Well how about MUS giving up just 45 points in 9 games, with I believe what is around 18 points being given up by 2nd or 3rd teams. MUS has the best D in the state.

After 9 games Trousdale has given up an average of 5.3 per game only livingston has scored more than 2 td,s against them.The Jackets have gave up 48 total points.

Maryville has their best defense under Quarles.

 

Melrose defense is scary. They had one of the best defenses I ever seen last year.

There is no doubt in my mind that Hillsboro has one of the top 3 defenses in the state all classifications

red bank has 4 shut-outs, and only have had 38 points scored against them all year.

If you use total points allowed as the benchmark, then in class 4A:

 

1. 44 Red Bank

2. 52 Melrose

3. 56 Hillsboro

4. 81 Maryville

5. 94 Memphis East

6. 97 White's Creek

austin-east didn't score on red bank's defense. they got a defensive touchdown. red bank has only allowed 38 points in 9 games.
