Westviewman...the best players off those teams could not bring UTM an OVC title. I hate to break it to ya, but it wouldn't happen!

WesCharge, you are a very knowledge person. You are 100% correct, but there might be fans in the seats, which is something sorely needed. Nwhoopoholic, I realize that Tom and Chris broadcast those games. Unless I am losing my mind, Nwhoopoholic interviewed the coach on Saturday morning, Dec. 31st at 8:40 in the morning. You call up people every morning and get them out of bed (HA! HA!); you can ask the question concerning the recruitment of local players if you have the courage! Don't pass the buck to poor ole Chris and Tom!!! (Ha!)

Why did UTM not recruit Bellamy? I guess she is not OVC material, just like Kendall Cavin! What a joke!!!! Enough said, time to move on.

I disagree with you about local players putting fans in the seats, it might get ya 20 or so extra fans. Winners put fans in the seats, and UTM is not succeeding in this area....I was told by someone extremely close to the UTM program that UTM did not recruit her because of various reasons. I truely hope she plays great from here on out and makes them pay for it!

Thanks for clearing up who I am Wes, but just in case anyone doesn't know I'm Vic DuRall, Paul's pardner on high school broadcasts. I don't mind anyone knowing who I am on CoachT for I would not say anything on here I wouldn't say in person. I hate my topic has gotten "muddied up" with a discussion on UTM recruiting practices. Message boards are for discussion but start a new topic please. I am just trying to give recognition to local grads playing collegiately and was asking for help. My "Spotlight on Collegiate Players" debuts tomorrow night during the Dresden-Gleason game on WCMT-Fm 101.3 Sports

Not sure about clearing up who you are, but I sure didn't want anyone thinking you were Paul, as you have much more superior knowledge than ole Luap!

 

I think Marlon is playing somewhere also, a walk on with an academic scholarship. I thought it was in Florida too! I don't know, where is Timmy Britt when you need him. He is probably learning some insurance lingo!

 

If I think of any others, I'll list them, but I think you have them all!

Thanks, I'll dig deeper on Marlon. I knew he was going the Academic route but wasn't sure if he was going to play too.

 

I get called him often enough in jest but I AM NOT Luap Elknit!

I remember about ten years ago when Bethel College recruited players from local schools like Gleason(Sawyers,McKee, Crowe and Crowe) and Dyersburg(Hudson) and later Big Sandy and were very competative. I realize Bethel is nowhere close to OVC schools, but looking at it, UTM this year isn't either. I have moved away from West Tenn but still keep up with sports there when I can. UTM was down then, and still are. I would like nothing better than UTM to succeed, but if they can't, at least do it with local players instead of out of state players that no one has heard of, or for that matter will hear of(being that noing is going to watch them).

Also geting local talent would bring some excitment back there something UTM needs badly.

From what I saw tonite...there is not alot of local talent in the area!

UTM had some local talent on their team, (Fuqua from Westview and Angel from Obion Co.) They are no longer playing there, what happen??

      Richland plays at McKenzie on Wed.  Should be a good series.  Does Richland have good pitching?

      Congratulations to the Warrior baseball team winning the Region Championship.  Last night the football team beat Franklin Co 33-0 in their spring scrimmage. Warriors looked very good. Missing a few players who were playing baseball but still absolutely dominated. A lot of young ones got in halfway through the 3rd when the score reached 33-0. QB Tilton Pickett looked very sharp.  Sam Pickett is on another level this season. Seems to have put on 15 to 20 lbs in the off season and added a step as well. Transfer from last year Williamson caught numerous balls and is very elusive. Lots of athletes on this team. Defense was smothering and will only get better. The head coach from Sewanee was in attendance and offered 2 kids after the game. Could be a special year.
