elizabethton has to be the top team out of the east considering they only lost one starter from last years sub-state team, and id say that B.T. Washington will be the top out of the west, but the middle is just a toss up......

york would be the team that lipscomb beat by one point in the region because their coach was to afraid to play basketball held the ball almost the whole third quarter and all of the fourth. he knew we were as good as them so he held the ball. if he hadn't played scared we would have been there instead of lipscomb but a coach has to do what he must to win.

Your foolish to say someone was scared so they held the ball. Fact is you lost, and he did what he had to, to get the win. Getting to the next game is all that matters at tourney time. You have to be able to play all types of teams and styles to make it during tourney time. Dont be upset about losing to a better team. Their history of basketball speaks for itself.

Hume-Fogg lost vital parts of their team last year right? Wrong. You all should be scared. because their talent has yet to be revealed. They know what all other teams have, but what they have will blow your mind. A well put together team who works well together and are students of the game. Hearts the size of Texas, and can play with any team in the state.

I think that Dyer Co. has to be the favorite. They will have the top guard tamdem in the state. (Crittendon and Fisk) They also have the 6-10 transfer in Byrd to round out an already strong team. Eizabethton with Redd, Brown ans company will be good. The sleeper from the East may be Sullivan Central. I saw this team at Milligan and they play very hardnosed and run their offense as good as I have seen. They are well coached from early. Coach Vaughn does a good job and they have the best Freshman coach in the state in Joe McPherson. Booker T. Washington led by Anre Allen will be hard to beat in the West. Giles Co. also returns a solid team. Austin East may be hard pushed to return to the BORO, but they are a contender. Their coach is very underated.. Elizabethon and Sullivan Central may break through this time.

Dyer County showed that BTW is only a team that runs up and down the floor relying on a hope and prayer that a three will fall. Dyer County beat BTW from start to finish it was not close. BTW may need to find another T-Head. The team will finish no better than third in AA. ;););)

Livingston Academy, I dont really think they are State Championship bound, but i do believe they are going to surprise alot of people. I know they are young and havent had the best of records in the past 4 or 5 seasons but i really believe this is the season they will really kick it. I know just about all of you will think I am crazy, but just Wait and See!

Best of Luck to all AA teams!

ITS ALL BOUT BALL, how can u say they r not state tourney material when their sophmore class is seniors. That class won two state titles in grade school (Allons Elementary and Livingston Middle School) i mean they will have their hands full to win it but i defintley believe they have as good a shot as anyone.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
