Guest catfish-hunter
Catfish, How do you know that Smith applied for the job? If he did he is the biggest liar I have ever been associated with Football coaches lie all the time. How else could they keep some kind of leverage in their profession with people like us always knowing what is going on???????? Battle Ground Academy was a big job and there were several big names that applied for it.
TexMex
Let me say this.....I know for a fact that Smith never applied for the BGA job or any other.....he is 100% committed to independence and has not applied for another job since he has been there...I think he plans on staying around for the long term, especaily with his wife teaching at WCS....just wanted to share my 2 cents worth
1stdown
Here is a name for you: Brian Beaubien, DC @ DCA. Great defensive mind. Was one of the "6" finalists for the BGA job and is currently in the mix for the Portland job. Looking for the right spot and Giles County could be it. You are trying to prop BB up aren't you 1stdown I'm just messing with you man. He would be a great choice for either one of the two schools you named. Lord knows teams would find it tough to score. cowboys
TexMex You have no clue because I no for a fact he applied for the Franklin job when TJ left and later withdrew his name. He also applied for the Giles job and was a finalist along with TJ and Crawford. I no those 2 jobs were applied for by SS
bulldog69
Let me say this. Smitty may not have actually "applied"...he had other people "check" things out for him to see what interest BGA had in him. How do I know, well...simple...I talked to the future two BGA QB"s fathers and they were put in "touch" with Smitty. One of them swore Smitty would come there at the drop of a hat if he had enough resources, this father is very highly respected around town and he has no reason to tell a fib. BGA did not want a coach with "baggage". The freshman QB is more of a smitty style QB......and these are the "facts". Please look for the Green Lantern/Batman hugger/Smitty to do his rebuttal and you'll have your answer.
tigerman
Catfish your batting average is going to be .500 (1-2) on filling coaching vacancies. Marshall County will not be open, thus WJ isn't heading to PC. I thought you might have been dead on with both Johnsons, but unless something out of leftfield occurs you're going to be 1-1 in Region 5-3A. Keep us updated though. You still impress me with your insight & inside knowledge of what is going on all over. Besides, now we've got the Giles job to speculate on. TF38478
You seem pretty confident in WJ All the talk is to bring someone in to the mix. After the effort was made to bring in a "Big Name Coach" and then have him leave in one year. Is it not a bad idea to look in the county for a local product. There are some qualified asst. in giles co. that would not "cost" nearly as much as some of these names you all are throwing around. Besides there is no doubt that Giles co. can win, the question is can you find a coach the kids will trust. not to imply that they will not trust a new coach from out of town, but in town is a safer option.
