Just the fact that the Jackson Sun would even make a comment about the officiating tells me it has been pretty good. They have no clue about sports coverage, period. Haven't had any since Dan Morris left the sports department.......anyway, having watched the first 3 days of the state tournament, the officiating hasn't been that bad. The one lady, has no clue, but other than that it has been no better or worse than usual.

Everyone seems to look at the last 2 minutes of a game instead of the first two minutes of a game where calls are made as well :) It always seems magnified at the end of a game.. Yeah, the pen went flying from press row :) Some of us had to run for cover!!

I was hoping Coach Patterson and his team could get to the finals. They are a solid club and will return quite a bit of talent in the coming years. Don't be shocked if Madison is back in the dance next year

I was at the Madison game yesterday. I was sitting right beside the radio guys from 101.5 and the officiating was horrible. When the Jackson Sun is even making comments in the paper about the terrible officiating then there is a problem. The offciaiting overall at this tournament was been way below par. I have seen some well officiated games, but Madison was one of the worst. THe radio guy actually slammed his pen on the table and it flipped onto the court. But officiating in West Tennessee is not going to get better so we had better just stink it up and get used to it.l

Yes, the radio people from Jackson should be very proud of the professional behavior that they displayed during that game. They could have gotten a technical called on Madison. However, none of the officials apparantly saw Richard Barber's pen fly onto the court. I have seen a radio crew get a technical foul called on them before so it can happen. Perhaps someone from the TSSAA needs to talk to the management of the Jackson radio station about the behavior of their employees. Hopefully their behavior will be better next week during the boys tournament.

North Side down 2, under two to play......pulling for North Side.......

I hate that you think that the coverage by the Jackson Sun has gotten worse, but the coverage has not been this good since the 1980s. No newspaper in the entire state had the kind of coverage that the Jackson Sun had. With the internet and newspaper, the coverage was top notch. I thought that the coverage by Dan Morris was not that great. Who are you for? You need to think before you speak becaus eyou just sound like an idiot.

Yep. Dan Reaves goes overboard way too often. Not a big fan of his ability on PBP, though he does a fantastic job of sharing the mic with his co-workers whether it be Sea Bass or Barber or both.

They were from all over the state. There was only one from the Middle Tennessee Officials Association.

I don't see that it matters where the officials are from. If they are good officials they are good officials. The only problem I saw with them was they did not call what they saw. I know many people have said they let them play and did not influence the games by blowing their whistles. I believe they influence the game just as much by not blowing their whistles as they do by blowing them to much. If walks are not called, charges through a trap defense are not called, and hooking in the post is not called then the officials have influenced the game. I saw a lot of all these going on at the state tournament.

    • Best-of-three sectional series vs East Robertson at home starting Wednesday.  They put us out last year at this point.  Go Pirates!!
    • I don't believe they have anyone that is surbers caliber but a decent staff overall.
    • Richland plays at McKenzie on Wed.  Should be a good series.  Does Richland have good pitching?
    • Congratulations to the Warrior baseball team winning the Region Championship.  Last night the football team beat Franklin Co 33-0 in their spring scrimmage. Warriors looked very good. Missing a few players who were playing baseball but still absolutely dominated. A lot of young ones got in halfway through the 3rd when the score reached 33-0. QB Tilton Pickett looked very sharp.  Sam Pickett is on another level this season. Seems to have put on 15 to 20 lbs in the off season and added a step as well. Transfer from last year Williamson caught numerous balls and is very elusive. Lots of athletes on this team. Defense was smothering and will only get better. The head coach from Sewanee was in attendance and offered 2 kids after the game. Could be a special year.
