Three and they needed every one of them. 6th walkoff HR of career--not only does he hit em, he usually hits em when it counts. Quite frankly, the best overall hitter in baseball.

Even the talking heads on ESPN are saying he is the best hitter in the game right now... :justwrestle:

hard to argue with .354 10HR 20RBI!!!

But whats up with that 8-6 record??

Make that 9-6.

I'm not that worried. Outside of the Cubs series, the Cards have followed the LaRussa blueprint to a T, winning 2 out of every three and a sweep. They are a couple of bullpen meltdowns and a amazing grab by Carlos Lee from being 12-3 right now......and they aren't playing well. Play .667 or better ball against the weaker teams and play around .500 against the tougher teams, and we'll be fine again.

Right now my biggest worries are Suppan and the bullpen. Supp's been roughed up three times now, and I honestly think Izzy is hurt. Now the question becomes, will ownership lay out cash to acquire a mid-season trade.

And think about this too. If the Cards go 9-6 every 15 games, they will be sitting there going into the third week of September with a 90-60 record. You mean to tell me that won't have them sitting pretty? They'll be just fine.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
