gotmilk?
Also rumor to replace Joe Torre with the Yankees Would never work, Lou's peronality would not only clash with Big George but also the high priced egos in the dugout!

coach15
It appears that Dusty Baker will soon be fire. I don't think Dusty is the problem. Cubs GM said that Dusty's job is safe till the end of the season and after the season.......???? Would never work, Lou's peronality would not only clash with Big George but also the high priced egos in the dugout! He has worked for him before

Solomon
I was up there Thursday night, and it was the worst game I have ever seen the Cards plan in person in the 19 years I have been going there for games. Something just isn't right about this team. I said it once at the beginning of the season, and I'll say it again now. This team was built to win now. Key guys are getting older, and ownership should have bit the bullet this year to try one last push at winning. Letting Sanders and Grud go were huge mistakes. They lose a lot of leadership there in the clubhouse. I don't think trading Luna, a guy everyone in the clubhouse liked, was a good move either. But, the owners are maximizing their investment. The stadium prices are officially highway robbery. And fans will put up with it when there is a winner, but they are about to see what happens when expectations aren't met. Solomon
Solomon, what are some of the stadium prices? Well, I sat down the left field line in the second level, and ticket prices were $38. I ordered a foot long brat and a souvenir cup coke, and that totaled $11.25. Random prices of vendors I noticed was that Sno Cones were $6, and a 24 ounce beer was $8.25. Maybe that is par for MLB prices, but it is a NICE jump from last season's prices at old Busch.

Back in the day when Auggie was alive, he wanted to win. Whitey could go to Auggie and tell him what he needed and Auggie would make it happen (not like the Yankees, but filling needs). When Auggie died, it became a business, and they quickly figured out enough Cardinal fans were loyal enough, they could put out a mediocre product and still draw 2.5 million fans. So why try to win and draw 3 million plus and make less money. When the new owners took over, ther was a breath of fresh air and what appeared to be a new committment to winning. But now the new stadium (which was built to generate more revenue) is being used as an excuse for financial strain limiting moves they can make. Right or wrong, you can't own a championship baseball team it your main concern is th bottom line.
