I work with a few fans from Portland . they seem optimistic about the upcoming season . Sounds like with the new coach , there's some excitment in the air. I'm sure last season was a disapoinment for the program & the fans, especially having to step up in class and compete in that tough region. Not to worry, Portland Football will be just fine in time...

I did hear from one of my friends that they don't hit like they used to...That makes my stomach turn...Portland football is known for how hard they hit...I'm not putting them down by any means, but if this is true then some of the alumni needs to talk to these guys and get them fired up...

Portland is not big and doesn't have a lot of numbers this year. The new coach is supposed to pass a lot more than Perry. Everything I am hearing is that the runningbacks and quarterback will have to run for their life this year.

I heard the numbers were up.In fact I was told Portland had close to 100 players out during the spring.If that is the case,one should find eleven who will play the game. I hope the new staff does well.It will be hard to follow Coach Perry.

I talked to a coach and that is what I was told.....but I am not a Portland fan.

 

One thing for sure is that we will see come the Sumner County Jamboree in August.

I've been working too much this spring to know what's been happening in Ptown, but I'm looking forward to the upcoming season and Coach Bever. Coach Perry's shoes will be hard to fill, but I'm sure the Panthers will do just fine. Two more months and we will begin to find out.

Very true ptown man. Portlands tradition was built on Hitting. Ive heard the same(besides Sam Schmidt)and which in my mind is unexcusable. You may not be able to catch or run and etc. but there is no reason for someone not being able to simply hit. We will find out soon enough though. I sure do hope its just some kind of rumor. Good luck panthers.

Isn't hickman county scrimmaging portland tomorrow or friday? If so, where will they scrimmage and what time?
