rigger101
I was debaing on another thread that a win against a good D-II team is the same as the top 5A programs. I need some help with this one. Any one have some stats to support this?
cbg
I was debaing on another thread that a win against a good D-II team is the same as the top 5A programs. I need some help with this one. Any one have some stats to support this? Brentwood Academy, McCallie, MBA, Christian Brothers & MUS would be able to play with any team in 5A and would be the favorite in most of the games. Father Ryan, JP2, Briarcrest & Baylor would be considered a good 5A teams and make the playoffs but would probably not be selected to win a 5A state championship. Don't forget that Father Ryan was on the bottom of D2 last season and they defeated a good Franklin team and made it look easy. WesVLT
Here are some stats for you, courtesy of rollredroll, who is a Tennessee high school football historian. Since the split, teams from DII-AAA have a 52-20 record against 5A teams and a 42-8 record versus 4A teams. On four occasions, a DII-AAA team that did not win the state championship beat the 4A or 5A state champion. 1997: MBA 23, Pearl-Cohn 22 2002: Brentwood Academy 17, Brentwood 7 2003: Christian Brothers 21, Germantown 10 2005: Brentwood Academy 20, Ravenwood

Lost Old Dad
Will also have a good game this year to watch and see what happens when Riverdale plays McCallie in week one this year. Seeing as they are two of the best in their respective divisions it should say something about the level of compitition between the two. McCallie should be scrappy this year, but probably not a contender. However, it is still compelling because Riverdale rarely schedules a non-district game that is not a "sure win". So, hats off to Riverdale. Maybe this is a step in the direction of MBA or BA. They have always had fearless players and supporters - now maybe a coach. rigger101
Question for McCallie team from another thread! does anyone on their team squat 615 pounds? dont think so. we have 5 guys thats squat 500+ ....no this is not a leg press, this is a free weight squat. we have receivers that bench 300 pounds. i am 5'10 150 pounds and i can squat 350 and bench 250 they cannot compete with our strength this season we are gonna push everyone around. That looks like some big boys to me. Yes, but if you look close some of their biggest guys should have graduated already. They might want to take a look at some of the linemen that R'dale is bringing. For instance Eugene Goree, 6'4" and over 250 that is cat quick and plays hard. Young man is a definite Div 1 prospect. When I asked about McCallie I was told they weren't big, but quick. R'dale is BIG and quick. Should be a very good game!

If I remember correctly DeLaSalle had several undefeated seasons and a few National Championships with lines that averaged 220#. Would any Tennessee school be willing to schedule DeLaSalle for a home and away?
rigger101
Yep, Big is not always better. I played on a team tha the line avg was 170 and played a Sevier Co team that averaged 6'2" and about 240. We beat them by 3 TD's.
