Who ever told you that was mistaken. The school population is approximately 85% Catholic. There are 4 Catholic elementary schools that feed into it. And Tim Irwin, the former NFL star, runs a youth football program for the catholic elementary schools.

Thanks...maybe they meant 25% non-Catholic.

H. Smith two exciting TD runs. SC's DBs defended him very well when they tried to throw the deep ball to him. #7 for KC made a great catch in the corner of the endzone for their first TD. The entire 1st half was played on the Catholic side of the 50. SC did a good job of bottling up KC's running game except for those two big TD runs by H. Smith. That guy is definately talented.

SC's starting QB got injured early. Backup QB was the starting Tight End. Then the other tight end rolled his ankle. SC was put b/w a rock and a hard place on offense. Turnovers didn't any help either. Could've been better.....Could've been worse.

Muffster, the only time stdeveloper comes around a Smith Co. thread is against TC. Kind of like you....only popping gums when you hear other people saying that SC might not win a game. You made a bold prediction though saying Catholic was going to win. I'll give you this one.......Catholic will win 3A.

SC's defense was solid except for those two runs. Smith doesn't look that fast until you see him run by defenders. He's very solid on offense and defense. He saved a couple of TD's. SC's offense was really hurt by the injuries...but did move the ball well in the 2nd half. Harville did well at qb after a couple of series. The fumble with 23 seconds to go in the half set up a Catholic field goal that gave them a 10-0 halftime lead. Catholic got their 1st TD on a very good catch by #7. That TD was also set up by a fumble deep in SC territory. If SC can cut down on the mistakes...they should have a very good season. Catholic made some mistakes too. It was a typical 1st game for both teams in the regard.

    • Dyersburg is going to be good, really good. As mentioned, they have a lot of talent on the way and the trio of Chelby, Joya, and KayKay will only be better with a full season together under their belt. To me, playing in Murfreesboro two consecutive postseasons will only serve to make them more dangerous if/when they stand among the final eight teams this March. Experience, good or bad, always makes you better. And not only do they have experience, they know how to win there. Schedules are coming together for all of the teams and I am excited about what I am seeing on the preliminary drafts on Dyersburg’s schedule. I know I am being a tease, but it’s simply not my place to announce what another school is doing. With that said, I won’t go into specifics. However, I am excited about renewed home and away contracts for the non-district portion of the calendar. I think west Tennessee will have a lot of interest as well.
    • What does everyone have in the final 8? In no particular order. 1. Eagleville 2. Gordonsville 3. Greenback 4. Oakdale 5. South Pitt/ East Robertson-- not sure 6. Richland 7. Halls 8. Union City
    • They struggled to field a team last year. I don’t see them being much better?
    • sx good two know thay didun't waint that entarr citty two see yeller/red......
    • Couldn’t agree more.. Tate is a special kinda player , but fortunately for us we get a best of 3 series. I think our pitching is better than last year when we made the trip to west tn. Should be a fun 2 or 3 games.
