Are you basing your entire opinion of Chattanooga on a couple of trips to Howard? If so, that is not fair.

You are both correct and incorrect. Yes, I'm basing my opinion on Howard on two trips there, both more than two decades ago. I'm not sure that's completely fair to Howard.

As for my opinion of Chattanooga, no I'm not basing it solely on the Howard experience. I don't believe I shared an opinion as to Chattanooga as a whole.

Thats a better list than the one in Knoxville. The Knoxville schedule blows, IMO.

Webb at West (Aug. 18)

Austin-East at Fulton (Aug. 25)

Austin-East at Catholic (Sept. 1)

Fulton at Alcoa (Sept. 8)

Halls at West (Sept. 15)

Central at Bearden (Sept. 22)

Powell at South-Doyle (Sept. 29)

Webb at Catholic (Oct. 6)

Catholic at Fulton (Oct. 13)

Carter at Fulton (Oct. 20)

Oak Ridge at Farragut (Oct. 27)

The only thing wrong with that schedule is it doesn't include any of the defending 3A State Champions' trips to Knoxville. :D

I think a lot of it has to do with "metropolitan" areas, that is, areas that have 1) heavy cable subscription and 2) fiber already built in. You can't get these games on sattelite.

Knoxville has one broadcast team/schedule, Chattanooga one, and Nashville another. Not sure about Memphis yet...don't think Comcast/Charter is in that market.

As for the Chattanooga schedule, having played basketball at Howard a couple of times, I'm not sure I would welcome a football trip. Not being ugly, just a couple of memorable trips 25 years ago.

I would also enjoy seeing some of the smaller schools get TV time, however many of the smaller school facilities don't have the lighting that a live TV broadcast would require and there would be some complexities in getting a satellite truck and all of the associated gear in some places. It's a shame. Many smaller schools simply don't have the money to install more lights and don't have the space. All of that aside, I've seen quite a few A games that would have been very entertaining to watch on the small screen.

I agree completely with firstbasetn (I think that's right). Comcast Middle did the White House @ Greenbrier game last year and didn't seem to have any technical problems.

As for the official schedule, I would say the one posted earlier for Middle Tennessee is now locked in. I know they are going to Smyrna this week, so you can probably take the "un" off the "official" part. As for the rest of the state, I don't know.

If all four of the main areas have Comcast (Memphis is either is or soon will be), wonder if they would consider doing a state-wide game of the week? Take their best production crew and talent and really get THE best game of the week, no matter where it might be in whatever category. The upside-you get see the best teams in the state each week. The down-side-you only get to see two teams a week rather than eight.

According to the TENNESSEAN, the Middle Tennessee crew must be changing. Joe Biddle reports that Blake Fulton (play-by-play) is leaving the market and going to Orlando. Wonder who they will replace him with on short notice.

Where can we go on the WEB (or other place) to get the official Middle TN schedule?

    • Yeah they both should be good games whoever matches up with who. Wartburg has beaten Oliver Springs all 4 times they’ve played this year but they have been close games. I believe Wartburgs first sectional appearance was last year when they went to North Greene. Good luck to you all!
    • What did they do this year? Every other year, I’ve gone to one. It’s been a little scrimmage and then a bunch of games like a quarterback throwing challenge, O line versus D line, push-up challenge, etc.    But not surprised, nothing new that the program has been on the decline since they lost their recruiting middle school coach. The baseball coach still does his fair share, but he recruits good baseball players. Not good football players, and decent baseball players, definitely nothing like the middle school coach could do, he left for a middle school job down near Cleveland high school a few years back.
    • Never in my life have I seen a team in a scrimmage against their own defense look so lost and confused. The defense didn’t look much better, the coaching staff can’t keep their anger together, not only with the players but also with their other coaches. I feel awful for those players. None of them look like they wanted or should’ve been out there, but for the grown men on the sidelines acting like fools, it's just embarrassing to the Farragut name and reputation. I now see why they chose not to live stream this on their YouTube channel.
    • We could sure use some math teachers country wide. Ever go into a store or restaurant and the bill comes to $9.97 and you give them a ten dollar bill and 2 pennies because you wanted a nickle back and then the meltdown starts and the next thing two more people have to come and help figure it out and the place comes to a complete halt. I see this everyday and it's a sad representation of all these schools allowing these kids out the door to get shortchanged the rest of their life.
