What is the best south pittsburg team ever>?

well ive played on and seen many good pirate teams, But The 94 Team was the most Dominate Team ive ever seen, they played many local good teams and destroyed them a running back that had over 4,000 yards and 87 touchdowns in 2 years , and thats just 2 qrts a game and he missed 2 games. I believe 8 players got scholorships off that Team. the two Banks brothers (killer Bee's) perry Hutchins @ Qb.. I believe we ran more kickoff's back that year than ever also.. yes i wish this years team well and I think ur a good team . but comparing that team to this one is apples and oranges .. not even close... but still good. I think that year also jasper was the #1 ranked area team and spitt was #2 out of all area teams. and japser beat spitt 7-0 and they won the AAA championship that year... I believe (my opinion) that the 94 team could have played with any high school team in the nation that year... The 69 Team was awesome , the 99 team was great.... even some teams in the Late 70's to early 80's was awesome.. even the ones that had in my opinion the fastest and best running back this town has ever seen. in Zelmer Chubb. Zelmer went to knoxville one year and actually out ran Willie Gault...so yes this is a opnion Post. but after watching that 94 team and the strength of there opponents that year and what i believe also the best high school coach ive ever seen (Danny wilson) they were the best.

 

I'll add some additional comments here. The 85 team had a TB (Johnny Csisco) that ran for over 2100 yards and may have been faster than Zalmer Chubb. I saw them both play and know Zalmer. In 86, Carl Lehr beat Csico's record and ran for ~2300 yards. The 87 team was good but was decimated by injuries and just ran out of gas in the 3rd round at Gordonsville. I also think that the 85-87 teams were the best passing Pirate teams in no small part to Chris Ferrell but also because of several very good receivers and wing backs.

 

All the teams mentioned played in very competive districts and regions. Also, only one or two teams made the playoffs on those 70s and 80s teams.

 

I reiterate what I said in my previous post, the 2006 Pirates are half way through the season and are having a good season. Close the deal and this team will become a part of Pirate lore. Today becomes next years history.

The best South Pitt i have seen, which started watchin them in 98' when I started at Boyd had to be the 99' team. I can't speak much on the older teams becuase i would of been too young

 

From 99 till now i have not seen a a better South Pitt team. With the young talent on the field this year, I believe next years team could be a great one with all the experience they will have.

OLD PIRATE I did not say we were as good or better than prior teams. I think that none of them could totally wipe the floor with us though. Thanks for the support from one pirate to another anyway.

Old Pirate says be proud if you wore the black & orange and especially if you were one of the chosen ones to be a part of any of the teams mentioned.

I've been watching SP football since 1977 or thereabouts and I believe that the 94 Pirates was the team that stands heads and shoulders above everyone else. Old Pirate and Rlh have some excellent comments about some other great teams and players. I've only seen this year's team play against Boyd. From that game, there is no way that they are as good as the 94 team. I know that these players feel good because of their record but they really haven't beaten anyone yet. Like Rlh said, win out for the remainder of the season and we'll talk about how good you are... until then.... you're just another "good" Pirate team........

You are exactly right. the 94 team was the best functioning football team that ive ever seen... they got it done in every way.. I dont think ive seen a better team on any field than 94 team... she yes sisco was fast but i dont think anyone could out run Zalmer... actually I think Jeremy Scott off the 94 team was as fast as Sisco.. and lehr had a line from heck.. that gave him alot of yards... i think they avereaged 245 or bigger that year... I may be wrong but i think Zalmer ran a 4.25 40
