I don't know... Throwing it more would have made the game longer, which would have probably givein the ball to Cosby more... Trying to just flat out-power Cosby wasn't a bad plan, there were just to many mistakes on the part off Unaka...

especially the mental ones.. the 2 personal fouls couldnt have come at worse times, both cancelled out good defensive plays..

Well just got back from King's Academy a little while ago... Boy, I thought we were going to have to come back tonight and finish the game. It was stopped for like an hour-and-a-half at halftime for a lighting storm... It was tied 9-9 at the half. Unaka's offense came out a little slow, and Kings Academy came in ready. If they come ready to play against Cosby, they should give them a game (note I said SHOULD)... Boy!!! King's Academy's kicker can BOOT THE CRAP out of the ball! Kicked a 34 yard field goal, and had AT LEAST 12 yards to spare. On kick-offs, he one-hopped them out of the end zone... Their QB was as good as Cosby's. He's not as athletic, but he ran the option well, and is a better passer. VERY composed in the pocket. Receivers were better than Cosby's. Not as fast, but have good hands and run very clean routs. O-line gave the QB decent protection. But they didn't have a running game to equal it all out. Their starting RB was out with an injury. Definitely the best King's Academy team I've seen... The Kings Academy fans were a class act. They've always been good to us. They've always shown great hospitality towards us. I hate to see this series come to an end, but oh well... On a bad note, the refs were not good at all. Were very one-sided and made alot of bad calls. But what infuriated me the most was on one occasion when the Unaka fans didn't like a particular ref's call, he turned towards the stands and started mouthing of and jawing at the Unaka fans. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!!! He will, I'm sure, be reported, and that guy may not call another game for a while... But altogether, good game, and thanks King's Academy for all your hospitality . B)

If King's is so much better than us you all should have really taken it to us! What happened? What a bunch of crap, King's is improved greatly from what they used to be but come on man eventually you have to give credit where its due and just come to the realization that last week you got BEAT, by a better team! Congrats to the Unaka PLAYERS and COACHES on a good win! Finish stron and get ready for the playoff push. B)

Wow... Its already week 7. Its getting closer and closer to play-off time, and Region races are becomeing clearer..... :thumb:

Hampton @ Cosby: I won't say alot about this so where I don't tick Cosby people off... Hampton is ready for this game, and all this talk on here just gives them more fuel... I think JC leaves the starters in alittle longer than he normaly does in this one... Hampton-49 Cosby-8

North Greene @ Happy Valley: Its homecoming for the Warriors, and they'll be able to take alittle bit of a breather in this one, but they can't let their gaurd down completly... North Greene is a young team and "green", but they're hungry all the same... Happy Valley-34 North Greene-15

Jellico @ Cloudland: I'm not sure if Cloudland has their RB back yet, but I don't think it will make much of a differance. The Clawson kid ain't bad, but Jellico will make him look like a super-star... Cloudland-33 Jellico-6

Elizabethton @ Sullivan South: The Rebs seem to be coming of a mid season rut (no offense to Johson County), and I think they will get back on track against 'Betsy... Lets just hope the players haven't completely giving up on the season yet, or this could be ugly... Sullivan South-35 Elizabethton-10

Unaka @ King's Academy: This game is to be played on Thursday. I don't know why. It always seems like we've played them on a Thursday... Anyhow, I see Unaka's deffense pretty much shuting the Lions down. But with as inept as the Rangers offense has been lately, we may have to halt the game at 0-0 for Sunday services... Unaka-24 King's Academy-7

Rangerbook06,

Are you from Hampton? Or maybe even Cosby? Or are you just trying to hide behind the ranger part of your name and are you truly from roan mountain? Typing is like a signature, and I can tell that you can't be more than 11 or 12 years old. There is a junior high forum, so you might want to wait 6 or 8 years before you try to post with the big boys. So please junior, stick with what you know, which apparently isn't very much.

Yea yea yea, so I joined....swore I never would but I couldn't resist. It's about time someone put this little boy in his place, but 25 I need to give you the real facts on this guy. I'll give you this...you were really really close on your assumption. Not a junior high kid just same mentality. As far as schools, he's from Unaka but I wouldn't quite call him a Ranger. He played no sports, yet wore a uniform in several. If he says it you can pretty much bank that it is wrong. Nothing more than a wanna be coach that never will be. I hope this helps you out 25. Sorry 06 but you were totally embarrassing yourself on here.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
