Who has the best D in 1a

Jo Byrns' 4 shutouts came over a span of 5 games in the middle of the season. Two of them were 36-0 and another was 40-0. Their defense is the most tenacious I've seen all year.

4 official shutouts, BUT lets breakdown every game.

 

1. Halls returns kick to 5 yd line TD, 54-7.

 

2. Cannon Co. INT ret for a TD, D gives 0 first downs in first half, 43-7.

 

3. Eagleville scored first legit TD in second half against Jo Byrns, 17-7.

 

4. Nashville Christian, D gave 0 first downs and bench was cleared b4 halftime. NCS scored on a punt against 2 team punt team, and a TD against 2 Defense, 34-12.

 

5. East Robertson, total domination, 36-0.

 

6. Forrest, Defense dominated again, 36-0.

 

7. Heritage, same story, 40-0.

 

8. Clarksville Academy, scored w/ 69 secs left on the 3 D, 38-7.

 

9. Mcewen, Defense really hit stride this game, 35-0.

 

10. Cascade, didnt allow a descent drive entire game until there was 2 minutes left and the game was over, only TD setup by a 59 yd pass and Rough the Passer call, 35-7.

 

So really the Jo Byrns 1 team defense has given up 3 TDs and has 7 shutouts.

 

THATS GOOD!!!! I agree though, that the D hasnt been tested by a potent offense, and we will find out how good it really is in the next few weeks.

Not to belittle Jo byrns because i think that their program has done AMAZING things, but your defense has been tested when the game was already over and only pride was keeping the goosegg on the board. That is a hard test for most teams to pass. But FCS's D has been tested when the game was on the line, when if they didn't hold it meant overtime. That is a completely different test entirely. This is the first year in memory where this east side fan has been this excited about the west side of the braket. Some great games should shape up for yall.

Thats why i said they havent really been tested, but i will say that Cascade averaged 38 pts per game going into our game, and we limited them to 7.

well you can look at it another way also ,,,,maybe it is good enough to not get in the sitsuation for the game to be on the line,,,,to be close enough to go into overtime because the offense is awsome too

FC defense is the best that I have seen this year, but I have yet to see JB. The db's for FC is great but I think their strongest part is their D line, #63 is a great player.

Well South Pittsburg has Four shut outs over a span of five games. This was the middle of the season as well.

49-0 Lookout Valley

48-0 Copper Basin

59-0 Bledsoe County

54-14 Grace academy

48-0 Marion Co. ( Jasper)

Then a loss to Temple. 20-53. Not trying to make excuses but the guys didn't have their heads in the game. Won't happen again. If Pittsburg gets beat again the team will earn it.. Good luck to Jo Bryns. Sounds like you've had a great season

I don't know if you could say it's the best, but UNAKA has an awesome defence!!!!!

some of the best linebackers in the region in #18 taylor and #40 Peters as well as #34 Estep, who will make you think a truck has run over you and #6 Carpenter will ring your bell at FS!!!!!

I have to give it to Jo Byrns. Giving up no more than 12 pts. in the regular season it's outstanding! Keep it up in the playoffs and don't overlook anybody. Records don't mean squat.
