Class 3A Bracket Predictions

Three major contributors missed the first game with Catholic-Fulton. If those three are still around come round 3 it might be a different outcome. Both teams must get past the first two rounds to get here though, and we all know what could happen. Sometimes you stumble, and sometimes you fall. Don't think its going to happen, but it could.

It seems like most everyone has Knoxville Catholic or Fulton beating Pearl-Cohn (or vice versa in my opinion) in the East half of the bracket in the semifinals. In the West half it seems like most like Jackson South Side & Crockett Co. (or David Lipscomb in my opinion) to collide in the semifinals.

I'm glad to see that most everyone has the same clearcut favorites at the top for the most part. Last year I remember that there were several different "favorites" and most of them did not even include eventual champion Livingston Academy.

I think it will come down to Catholic vs. Pearl Cohn and Lipscomb vs. Crockett. Any of those could win it....but like last year, I hope an underdog comes through!

the state championship game will be in the quarters when Catholic and Fulton play. Catholic is in my opinion the better team. and those who think teams will score 30 or more on either Catholic or Fulton had better pack a lunch because you will need it to get that done. Bluecross final --- Catholic 34 Crockett 7

The Eastern teams you mentioned will probably be there. On the Western side, I believe it will be either Crockett or South Side, and probably South Side. The East may win, but Crockett or South Side will not be held to 7 points, it just won't happen. Both have way to many offensive weapons to consistantly shut down them all. Their defenses allow a little over one touchdown a game (many of those scored on the second team(s). Who ever represents the West, these two, or a team that was good enough to get past them, the West will be well represented. If your picks take either of these two as lightly as you seem to, I doubt the lunch you speak of will be necessary. There is a very good chance the state championship will be decided itn the Semis..... in Alamo. <_<

Why doesn't you think that Meigs will ake it past the first round. They have played strong all year. They lost one game and that game woke them up. It made them realize that they don't won't to lose. They're going to play strong in the playoffs and I believe go far.

    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
    • He was pretty darn good for a freshman, but he will have a hard time seeing the field at Oakland for a good while, I’m afraid.
    • Dang I feel bad for the kid. I’m sure he loves his dad and wants to do anything for his dad but I don’t think he realizes his dad isn’t doing the best for his football career if he keeps jumping schools.
    • I’m not taking shots at the kid, but “athlete” is not something I would use to describe him. He was a long, lengthy, defensive back
    • Mistakes like that should never happen.
