In the loss to Collierville did Wooddale rest the starters? If not what did Collierville do to win?

I remember that loss as well. I then remember being puzzled after reading the stats, as to why Roderick Davis had so many rushing stats, and none receiving for the Collierville game. I then read in the paper the subsequent Saturday after the Wooddale/Millington playoff game that Terrence Moore didn't play against Collierville because he violated team rules so coach Miller put his derriere on the bench. Instead ... Coach Miller played Roderick Davis at RB against Collierville. Wooddale had 174 yards on the ground vs. 59 passing yards, with the majority of those passing yards going to Armstrong. In that game, Roderick Davis had 17 carries for 130 yards. Armstrong had 5 catches for 56 yards. I don't know who was put in Rod's spot at WR for the Collierville game.

I remember reading Terrence Moore's comments after the Wooddale/Millington game where he stated that he let his team down the week before, and that he the need to redeem himself to his team (He didn't word it like that, but that was the gist of it). Don't let that game mislead you. The Wooddale coach had to discipline is star RB for something he did. It got his attention too because that was a big game, and coach put his rear end on the pine. Big Kudos’ goes out to coach Miller for disciplining his starting RB during a big game. No, I have no idea what the infraction was that caused the coach to sit his starting RB.

Kwc,

This game will be a classic battle of great defense (Ridgeway) vs great offense (Woodale). Defense usually prevails.

Ok, Kwc-- here's one LAST CHANCE to change your prediction.....what's it gonna be?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ridgeway wins. That's my prediction and I'm sticking to it! :thumb:

Great win by Woodale, 6-3.

Woodale blocked a RW punt & returned it appx 10 yds for the game-winning TD, late 4th Qtr.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BG, I'm gonna officially lay off Woodale's defense! They did an outstanding job tonight, despite RWs one-dimensional offense. Woodale STILL had to stop Crawford. They did just that, very effectively.

Best of luck to Woodale next week in the rematch vs White Station.

Was there a poor snap on the punt, mishandled, or did Woodale just get to the punter quickly?

The last one, the snap was there and he handled it, they just flooded an area on the line and came through.

Never did I think that a blocked punt would decide this game. A 70 yard pass, 80 yard run, yes one of those, but a blocked punt, nope, never saw that one comming,

Ridgeway, thanks for alot of good times, but all good things must end and THIS WAS A GREAT SEASON.

Never thought it would end like that,A great game played by two great football teams. The last team to beat Ridgeway went on and won State, and I think the same thing could happen this year.

It's certaintly possible....

With Woodale's outstanding offense and adequate (I'll now back off saying, "porous") defense, they have just as good a chance as anybody to win the 5A Championship! First though, they have to get by White Station....That's gonna' be a great rematch.

Congrats to Wooddale on a big win. I'm with PAPAW, never would have thought it would have come down to a blocked punt...thought it would be that loooong pass that would get us. The Ridgeway defense played awesome. Wooddale moved the ball in spurts but our D always came up with the big play. Great stand right before the half. As we have discussed numerous times on here, our inability to throw the ball was huge. Aaron ran hard but other than one run of 38 yards, Wooddale pretty much kept him in check.

Ridgeway - you have a lot to be proud of...10-0 in the regular season, 3 Mr. Football Finalists, and more. The end is not how we all would have dreamed but in reality, football is a game that helps prepare you for life. You have so much in front of you. Hold your heads high and take what the game has taught you and apply it to what you do every day. Always be proud of all you have accomplished - we will.

Good luck to Wooddale and White Station next week. It should be a heck of a rematch. Hopefully, one of our sister Memphis City Schools will be in the Boro that first weekend in December!

    • They should be pretty good in year two for Rang.  Replacing most of the offensive production losing Dozier, Hayward and Rembert , but they're are skill kids in place ready for their shot.  I know I say this every year, but the o line should show improvement after two years in Rang and Kevin Day's weight program.  I still would favor West over Plow and OR come November.  The Rebs will have to grow up a bunch between now and then, and will probably take some lumps along the way with that schedule.  But I predict come playoff time they will be ready.   One of their coaches half joked to me that they could go 5-5 regular season and win the state championship.  Ha ha.
    • there will be a couple of teams, that could make some noise
    • Dyersburg may win back to back to back championships. They are going to be hands down the best 3A team. Plus their District/region/sectionals are not very good. They basically just have to make it to region out of a 5 team district that has a few decent teams. South Gibson will be okay but they graduate their best player and there is nobody in the region 7 or region 8 who is going to compete with them.
    • I remember very well watching things change in the late 80's and yes it's all schools. Most people that are in charge today have any idea because they were raised and taught under this social experiment so they don't have a clue. Anyone that does see the truth for what it is usually try and hide it by blending in so that the School Gestapo doesn't round them up and take them to the Fuhrer ( kindly putting it ). Yes it is all schools not just Maryville. This train ride is not headed in a good direction and if the public had seen a movie of what's happening now back in 1980 everyone would have been headed home afterwards to change underware.
    • Hoping to make the playoffs.
