At around 12:15 today the Head Football Coach at Sequoyah High School officially resigned. In a tearful resignation statement to the players Coach Holloway officially resigned to the players. Last week rumors and tempers were high about this topic, but now it is official. I want to thank Coach Holloway for all he has done for me and my family. He is a great man and would give you the shirt off his back to help you. Good luck to him wherever he may end up. We will miss him deeply. What a mistake to let him get away. Whether his resignation was forced or not we willnever really know boy either way it was a huge mistake. Thanks Monroe County. YOu have done it again.

It didn’t seem as if he was there long enough to make a big change? He sure is welcome to come to Wartburg Central!

He would probably do well if given the right amount of time. He had Sequoyah headed in the right direction and ran out of time. One thing for sure though he has to much respect to even inquire about a job that is not officially open yet. If it comes open he might apply.

Coach Holloway was a good guy; he didn’t really have a chance at Sequoyah.

Thanks Gibson. You are right he never really had a chance. I hope someone will give him a chance and leave him alone long enough to build a program. He is a very great person and good football coach. He really works hard and has made me a better person and player. IF someone will give him a chance I don't believe they will be dissappointed in the way he relates and motivates kids. He also works harder than anyone I have ever been around when it comes to his program and getting what it needs to become successful.

It is sad that another coach must resign at SQHS. I never got the chance to meet Coach Holloway, but I've heard that he was a good guy. I hope that he can find a good coaching job very soon. I don't think the blame can all be put on Coach Holloway. For starters, he had to come in to a historically losing program by himself. He did not have the luxury of bringing in his own staff. Hopefully, this will be a wake up call for the SQHS administration, boosters, and school board. If you want to win let your next coach bring in his own staff. Secondly, the next coach and staff must have some college playing experience. I know that there are some assistants at SQHS that didn't play high school football, much less college football. Also, give the man longer than two years.

Your name fits you so well. The only name better would be just being and a____.

:thumb: I don't understand how Bama 14 was once Holloway and now it isn't. It sure sounds like on previous post even before the post about getting fired that it was coach Holloway? I thought Holloway said that Bama 14 would not post anymore?

Vonore12 I agree with you that a new coach sould be able to bring some staff with him. Monroe County needs to make a commitment to athletics. I don't think you are correct on the current staff. I could be wrong but I believe all did play high school ball and one or maybe even two played some college ball. I could be mistaken though.

Coach Holloway: Good luck where ever you end up.

I'm locking this thread. It's going no where and the coach has resigned and I think you guys need to let everything settle down and allow the school board to go through the process to find the next coach.

There is no need to "Cast stones" at the outgoing coach or staff.

    • Congratulations to the Warrior baseball team winning the Region Championship.  Last night the football team beat Franklin Co 33-0 in their spring scrimmage. Warriors looked very good. Missing a few players who were playing baseball but still absolutely dominated. A lot of young ones got in halfway through the 3rd when the score reached 33-0. QB Tilton Pickett looked very sharp.  Sam Pickett is on another level this season. Seems to have put on 15 to 20 lbs in the off season and added a step as well. Transfer from last year Williamson caught numerous balls and is very elusive. Lots of athletes on this team. Defense was smothering and will only get better. The head coach from Sewanee was in attendance and offered 2 kids after the game. Could be a special year.
