cbg
I did a little research and learned the following facts about Tennessee prep football over the past 25 years. In the top classifications of 5A & 3A (before we had five classifications) Middle Tennessee play's much better football than the rest of the state. State Champions: Knoxville & Upper East Tennessee 4 Middle Tennessee 17 Chattanooga 1 Memphis & West Tennessee 3 State Runner-ups: Knoxville & Upper East Tennessee 4 Middle Tennessee 14 Chattanooga 2 Memphis & West Tennessee 5 Largest Attendance: 1988 Dickson County vs Oakland 32,000 (The TSSAA no longer publishes the attendance on their website) Edited November 15, 2006 by cbg

I'd like to see it after population statistics are factored in. Edited November 15, 2006 by Buzzman

Go work though

Go work though I think he was just using 5A schools (used to be 3A until classifications were modified). I believe both Red Bank and Cleveland were playing in 4A when they won their championships? thorough97
Red Bank's was in 5A in 2000, they dropped to 4A in 2001. Also, Rhea County was a runner-up in 1981 & 1985 and you didn't count that for Chattanooga.

cbg
If you are talking about the Class AAA title game between Dickson County and Oakland, the year was 1988, not 1998. Yes, it should have read 1988 and not 1998. Red Bank's was in 5A in 2000, they dropped to 4A in 2001. Also, Rhea County was a runner-up in 1981 & 1985 and you didn't count that for Chattanooga. I added Rhea County to Knoxville & East Tennessee. Would they not be closer to Knoxville than Chattanooga?
thorough97
no, Rhea Co. is actually touching Hamilton Co. (which Chattanooga is in) and RCHS is about 30 minutes from downtown Chattanooga, it's over a hour away from Knoxville.

stush96
Good work. Although things have drasticly changed over recent years. I would say East TN domination. Am I wrong?
