They have a chance against Coffee Co.

Wingman, The Lady Pioneers have "NO CHANCE" I repeat "NO CHANCE" against Manchester Friday night. This lady pioneer team lacks talent, but even worse they seem to have a hard time finding the right five to play defense. I can take losing but I can't take lack of hustle. Just give me five girls who will hustle to the ball and play a little defense.

If there is politics involved then I'm out of it. However "hoop", kids must learn to pay their dues--- that is life isn't it?--- just cause they "went to camp" doesn't mean they should be rewarded with playing time! Also, whatever the coach's tactics are, if "they were being treated like a dog" I GUARANTEE you it would be OK if they were 10-0 right now. This is the mentatlity that disgusts me. Don't know you, and don't want to. But, read your own posts if the coach "Lives Basketball and has no life", it sounds like you need to keep her around. Its a PRIVILEGE TO PLAY and sad but true, it is a year-round sport. Disagree? Again ad, and don't agree with it, but it should be your life. Especially if your Struggling! That is where you dig deep and get to work. Lay down and except losing--- I will not raise my child under that philosophy!

 

If you know her like I know her. I love when she syas they are "rebuilding", can I ask WHAT are they rebuilding from a 10-19 05/06season. Wooden, I expect a school with 1800 to 1900 kids to find 12 to 14 girls that can play defense, execute on offense, and rebound against other teams. I should have typed these statements because you may not understand where I am coming from. I never give up and wouldn;t want that from any kids I know, but there MUST be a reason so mnay girls have quit or chosen not to try back out in basketball. All I am saying is she needs to step back and realize it is not happening under her guidance and a change is needed. If she lives so much basketball then why o why does she have like a career record of 80 something wins and 170 losses. Record speaks for itself.

Weekly, the players are leaving because who wants to be treated like a dog and then get beat by 50 points! The coach wants girls to LIVE basketball like her because she has no life. Some players played all summer with the varsity and then get put back on the freshman team when others came in from other sports. Maybe the parents are letting them quit because their daughter has busted her tail all year in practice and gets no PT cause she doesn't have the right name or where she played ball or her parents ticked her (coach) off. The girls must know something.....

Generally speaking, most athletes that play multiple sports are usually your better athletes. Its not there fault they are with other sports.Trust me I've seen them play. Nobody's on that bench that shouldn't be on that bench.We WC fans just have to admit, its going to be a long season. We don't have enough talent to compete and win. Our better players(2) would be 7th off the bench with most of our district foes.Hoop, I know you aren't one of those parents that think because you come to practice everyday you should play. That part of being on the team. Thats part of the problem here. This is not jaycee or elementary ball. This is High School basketball.

Woops. Frazier with a little smoothing up could play on a number of teams. There is a another player or two with some work, that could do the same. These two would have to approach their game differently. A team gets beaten and drops their chin cannot compete. Need some confidence and skills training.

This makes me queasy. All of these apologists for a coach that has NEVER won on the high school level. There is NO way someone would be allowed to continually fail at thier job anywhere else and they would keep said job. NO WAY!! I love her as a person. As a coach, just not getting int done. yes, the talent on the tema may be lacking. There IS talent in the county. Some at another school, some walking the halls. Why are they not playing? One reason. It is NOT a work hard issue. It is a likability issue. Some of my coaches who worked me harder than any were the coaches I would have done anthing they asked me to. Therre are times when you ahve to cal a spade a spade and this is one. It is time for a change. Phargis has some great idedas on another thread, but they aren't happening until a change is made at the top.

Who is the boys middle school coach in Warren Co. She would be a good coach to look at from watching the way her teams has bought into her system. AMEN. And weekly, try and stick to your profession. You are the last to give athletic advice. You could not recognize talent if it fell out of the paper. The middle school boys coach can't coach girls for a reason.

What does that have to do with anything? If she can coach and has a passion for the game and the players will buy into it how can this be bad. Does the problem come from bad coaching or the power struggles within the county?

She is a VERY good coach. Her style may just be what a team like WC needs. The uptempo can cover up lack of talent in other areas. Depth could be a problem, however, many of the kids not playing might come back after a change.

I am not questioning her coaching ability, However if people do not like the current situation with the Head coach being the AD's sister then how will it go if it were his sister-in-law. Now all of this could be silenced if she comes in and does a great job.
