Congrats JCS! I haven't read the posts since before the game ... but I hope no one said that unforced turnovers were the reason you won. Your kids won with heart, drive, determination, and good coaching! Everyone of your kids were in the right place at the right time - excellent coaching! And ... you can be in the right places ... but you still have to make the play once you have the opportunity!

Congrats JCS! Excellent game! :thumb:

I think FCS was better than we saw...as my wife and I drove to the boro yesterday we agreed the one thing we didn't want was for either team to have a player who felt he lost he game for his team...as it was such a big game and we didn't want any young man to have to live with that...I don't think that occured...everyone played hard...there were 6 turnovers from FCS...but they were not poor plays...just guys being in the right place to make a play...I hope you guys make it back next year and put Gold in your trophy case...good luck

I'm just sitting here reading, and thinking, and grinning from time to time, and the thought struck me... Each and every player for both teams who stepped on that field yesterday looked like they belonged on that field in THE BIG GAME. The coaches obviously had both teams mentally prepared. Nobody quit, nobody choked. To steal a quote from the Lake County game, "Special Players make Special Plays." Both squads had special players that stepped up and picked up their team.

It's true, both teams appeared to not have their best offensive games yesterday, but folks, that's what good defenses do to good offenses. FCS disrupted JCS and JCS disrupted FCS. Both offenses found a way to make plays at some point in the second half, and that is a demonstration of courage, heart, and character.

What a great experience for these kids, and what a bonus for both schools to be involved in a day like yesterday.

At the beginning of the year I didnt understand why Friendship's QB changed his number from 5 to 6...I thought it might be that he liked the number better or that maybe he was trying to be like #6 from Trousdale last year...but yesterday I came to the conclusion why he chose #6...heck it matches how many INTs he threw in the Championship game...looks like Friendship finally made it to the big dance, but forgot to bring the dancing shoes...Congrats on the SILVER ball...

JCS just put ". . .based on a true story" on the "Facing the Giants" movie title. JCS experienced a miracle this season and they answered the question "what is impossible with God?". . . NOTHING! That doesn't mean they have the formula for asking God to do their bidding. He is God and he chooses when He wants to demonstrate His power in the hearts of men. So, when He does do it in dramatic fashion we just say "Praise God".

Seniors, WOW! Rashad, Clay, Greg, Jon, Alex, Cody, Trey, Andrew, Cliff, and Seth. You are our heroes! Don't ever forget how you got here.

Matt, God has been good to you. . . 45 yd. punt, touchdown pass. You have been faithful in honoring Him, your family, and yourself. We love you and your family so much.

One testimony about our coaches: there were two junior players on the field yesterday who had never played football before this season. That's good coaching.

To the rest of the team. . . we will have fun for a long time off of this. Get ready 2007 !

    • Think he would be better suited to save our baseball program. We struggle to win 5 games a year but noone wants to talk about that. Could even coach from the fence across the creek should he continue in his extra curricular activities.
    • He probably works at the high school.
    • I'm going to say  1) Coalfield 2) Oz 3) Rockwood  4) Greenback
    • Mancoverage sez: This thread has been an absolute delight! Absolutely marvelous! Such eloquent and rosy prose, contained here in, is so seldom found amongst the more jocular subset of our species. The brilliant author behind such poetic use of an obviously deep and broad vernacular, reminds me of the other-worldly talents of Oscar Wilde. I humbly thank you, kind sir, for so generously sharing your elegantly loquacious gifts. The Goat sez: You better watch your back, Lord Byron, I’m sure poetry isn’t the only talent and passion that the author shares with Oscar Wilde.
