Faithful,

If you're willing, contact me: car6@earthlink.net. It's no secret; I just don't want to go there . . . . here, if that makes any sense. For what it's worth, she's a nice Lady, good student, and, in my opinion, she could become one of Unaka's top two or three players as early as next season. But what do I know?

CycloneFan,

Looks like the Lady Rebels are back to their old, high-pressure defensive tricks.

GLee, ?????????

KRich, I understand where you're coming from. As you can see from my number of posts, I'm more a reader than a poster. I get more info on CoachT than I can get in the local newspapers. I'm normally on top of these things in the area because I follow all the schools and try to catch as many games as I can. Seems like here lately I can't catch up with anything though. I'm sure I'll find out at the next game - I was just curious.

Thanks anyway!

By the way, I enjoy reading your posts - you ought to start your own newspaper! A good sports section is hard to find. :thumb:

Maybe we should just cut the local coverage out all together. Then people like you can buy a copy of "Grit" and get all your sports info. You people ar lucky to have a local paper that covers "ALL' the county basketball teams.

Didn't mean to hit a nerve there Starman, you all do a wonderful job. I also enjoy reading the Grit. :)

EHSFAITHFUL, you're much too kind. As you've probably already observed, I don't often find an agreeable audience. But how much fun would this be if we all agreed?

I'm in the middle of yet another Domain/Webhost Transfer, so maybe we can offer a lot more insight there as the season progresses (and give the coacht audience a break). And don't worry about Starman; he has nerves of steel. I often call him to verify scores, and so forth. It's good to have someone to bail me out on occasion.

But I so wish I could cover "ALL" those games. :thumb:

And Congratulations are in order for the Lady Bulldogs, after wins over Providence Academy and David Crockett! They'll be severely challenged in Erwin tonight, but it's good to see the Hampton Ladies have success. It's gratifying, how hard they play.

Where can I get the Grit?

I just read where Cloudland lost at home to Mitchell County by 10, 55-45.

Lander fans, whats the scoop on this game?

Fear of heights, maybe? You remember the Neil Diamond song, "Stargazer?" It was on his "Beautiful Noise" albumn. One of the best lines in the song: "The higher the top, the longer the drop."

What's going on with these Ladies? I really felt that after Tuesday, things would clear up a bit. The good news? We appear headed for some great conference and tournament action.

Unicoi should dominate in this game but will they? Or will ole Leon have some kind of masterful game plan? Consistency is something none of our area teams seemed to have reached yet. No ball for me tonight - Christmas Party! Oh well, Merry Christmas!

As for the Grit, it's been awhile but some places you might want to check are Howard's Shop Easy, Joe Smithdeal's Supermarket, Betty Ann Service Station, Turkey Town Mall or A.O. Buckles Store. That's the last places I think I saw one of those!

I interrupt this True Grit discussion to bring you some basketball news.

Lady Cyclones played very well tonight at Chuckey Doak. Michaela looked so comfortable and confident; she had 21,...at the half. Cyclones blasted Chuckey Doak tonight 82-40. If they play like they did tonight, EHS will be a handful for anyone. Good ball movement. Minimal turnovers. Good shooting. Tenacious defense. Good job ladies and coaches.

I think Hampton at Unicoi County were postponed. The Lady Rangers thought they'd cancel their game with North Greene; but nobody told the Lady Huskies. McKinsey - #25 for North Greene, led the Lady Huskies to a twenty-points-plus victory. At Unaka!

Howard's Shop Easy? Best hotdogs in Elizabethton, 'cept for when Sammons was there in the little alley next to Kress'. Remember when they were 13 cents?; Two for a Quarter!?

Used to be able to buy ANYTHING at Uncle A. O.'s. He was my mother's brother. I attended his son's funeral tonight (Norman Buckles was my First, and Second cousin).

. . . .Then, got stuck at El Toritos with Jarfly Dugger, for over an hour!

    • I think that pretty much sums it up, really. To be perfectly honest, I'm far less sour about Eagleville getting to host themselves in the state tournament every year than I am the fact that we find ourselves in a position that we have to play STATE TOURNAMENT games at a blamed Single A facility.
    • It's time to put away with the award. 18 players selected, and 17 of those players are from Middle and East Tennessee. I guess they don't play baseball in West Tennessee. I understand there will be players that were "snubbed." We can make a legit argument that it occurs in Mr. Football and as well as Mr./Mrs. Basketball. But baseball is not a place where we can sit here and say "these are the 3 best players in this class and that class."  And we got to get rid of these polls bullcrap that's being released. It's all nonsense.
    • Thanks. I'm just trying to understand how this process works.   It seems like a bit of a sweetheart deal to me but the cookie has to crumble somewhere I guess.
    • He won’t got anywhere he has it made in h20 he prob makes almost what a head coach in t c makes plus there’s not as much pressure there everyone is a use to the losing there. I say he will be there for many years just waiting for Webster to leave…
    • Do you happen to know how he stacked against the other nominees? Just curious what the other stats were.
