The Greeneville Sun reported yesterday that the search committee has been formed and they are currently reviewing all of the applications received. They also said that they are still taking applications. The Director of Schools said that they wanted to have a coach in place by the end of February, but the article did not mention any names of candidates. Anyone heard any names mentioned?

I know Colobro from Gate City, Va. is interested. He's eligible for retirement from Va. and said he wanted a job in Tn. to coach for 10 years. Not sure this is what Greeneville is looking for, but he is a good coach.

I would say, given the names of those on the committee, that they are putting together an attractive package for whoever is hired.. consisting of Dr. Ailshie, GHS Principal Jerry Ayers, GHS Athletic Director Randy Richards, Tusculum College Head Football Coach Frankie DeBusk, and local businessmen Kent Bewley and Scott Niswonger...looks pretty serious. I would imagine bringing the big guns out in public is designed to attract a few more quality applicants.Should be interesting to see who bites.

Why is Coach Frankie DeBusk on the commitee ? What does he have to do with Greeneville High School ? Isn't he just the coach at Tusculum College ?

Here's that answer according to Dr. Ailshie:

Dr. Ailshie said that he had asked Coach DeBusk, a standout athlete at GHS during his prep days, to review the background of some of the applicants.

“Because of his duties at Tusculum, Coach DeBusk knows a lot of coaches,” Dr. Ailshie said. “That’s why I thought it would be helpful for him to go ahead and check on some of the applicants.”

I think it is a wise idea. Can you immagine some of the folks trying to hire a football coach when they know nothing about football. It brings in someone also that has contact with some great coaches.

And a public announcement that 2 sets of deep pockets are on the committee could sweeten the pot.

Do they want a coach with head coaching experience or are they willing to take a chance on a assistant coach (coordinator) at a good program. There are some great Assistant Coaches out there so when do they ever get their chance to become a Head Coach. It's a "Catch 22"

a program like Greenville doesnot have to take a chance with a assistant. They can hire a small school successful head coach and let good assistants go for the small school job>

    • I remember very well watching things change in the late 80's and yes it's all schools. Most people that are in charge today have any idea because they were raised and taught under this social experiment so they don't have a clue. Anyone that does see the truth for what it is usually try and hide it by blending in so that the School Gestapo doesn't round them up and take them to the Fuhrer ( kindly putting it ). Yes it is all schools not just Maryville. This train ride is not headed in a good direction and if the public had seen a movie of what's happening now back in 1980 everyone would have been headed home afterwards to change underware.
    • You are so correct!  It’s really 99.9% of academia want to change to way that education is not only taught but the way it is viewed.  The pendulum has definitely swung as far to the left as possible and eventually will swing to the right much too far.  I have always  said that politics and one’s personal religious views need to stay out of education,  but for the last 40 years education has been running full throttle to what we have today.  If the social experiment that we are currently experiencing continues it is only a matter of time before the public school system in the USA completely collapses and all kids attend private schools or even worse don’t go to school.
    • He was a bruise but Aaron Dykes is HVA’s best RB ever.
    • I am talking about what they both did for their team. They both carried their team for four years while they were both there. I wasn’t really comparing them that would be unfair. Bishop is on a level of his own.
