Are they even close on this hire?

As we inch ever closer to April, spring practice is getting within about 60 days or so, and without even naming finalists (at least publically), they're running thin on time.

Was one of the committee members lost Frankie Debusk?

I think his addition could potentially raise some eyebrows at the NCAA level.

Actually the 2 names I heard that were removed were 2 people that should be on the committee without question: GHS Principal Jerry Ayers, GHS Athletic Director Randy Richards.

Just a rumor, maybe completely false.

I agree completely. The only reason that I could imagine this to possibly be true is because of the "political" nature of things in small towns such as Greeneville. If you have any doubts of this, think back to the factions when decisions were being made to build a new GHS or remodel the old one.

If the rumor is true, it's unfortunate. Maybe someone could shed some light on this?

Unless of course, Richards is to be replaced as AD over Ayers objections...then it would make sense.

The administration "Lyle, Kent & Scott" will make a decision this week on a football coach. They probably have decided against what Ayers and Richardson wants, so therefore the reason they have been taken off the committee. I know that this scool system can not continue to make the dumb decisions they have made. I do believe they will run a lot of people off with this decision. Too bad the new coach will be starting off on the wrong foot with a lot of people.

Dont forget that Richards is the baseball coach, and he could be upset like all the other coaches @ Greeneville over what this new football coach is getting as bait to come to Greeneville....such as a new 3 story field house with unlimited $$$$ to spend on furnishing the weight room just to name some "bait"...

you got to remember that Football is King is this part of the Country, and they need to refurnish the weightroom

    • there will be a couple of teams, that could make some noise
    • Dyersburg may win back to back to back championships. They are going to be hands down the best 3A team. Plus their District/region/sectionals are not very good. They basically just have to make it to region out of a 5 team district that has a few decent teams. South Gibson will be okay but they graduate their best player and there is nobody in the region 7 or region 8 who is going to compete with them.
    • I remember very well watching things change in the late 80's and yes it's all schools. Most people that are in charge today have any idea because they were raised and taught under this social experiment so they don't have a clue. Anyone that does see the truth for what it is usually try and hide it by blending in so that the School Gestapo doesn't round them up and take them to the Fuhrer ( kindly putting it ). Yes it is all schools not just Maryville. This train ride is not headed in a good direction and if the public had seen a movie of what's happening now back in 1980 everyone would have been headed home afterwards to change underware.
    • Hoping to make the playoffs.
    • You are so correct!  It’s really 99.9% of academia want to change to way that education is not only taught but the way it is viewed.  The pendulum has definitely swung as far to the left as possible and eventually will swing to the right much too far.  I have always  said that politics and one’s personal religious views need to stay out of education,  but for the last 40 years education has been running full throttle to what we have today.  If the social experiment that we are currently experiencing continues it is only a matter of time before the public school system in the USA completely collapses and all kids attend private schools or even worse don’t go to school.
