Obion County Central is currently 18-1 and defeated Dyer Co. 48-41 this past Tuesday night. The Lady Rebels are led by an outstanding Junior class with Jana Roney averaging over 15 points per game and the Reedy sisters - Jr.Gentry and Fr. Aubrey each avg. between 9 and 10 points per outing :thumb:

A very balanced scoring attack for OC with a host of players averaging between 5 and 8 points a game as they usually go about 9 deep in the rotation and play different positions. Roney just made her 1200 career point in her Jr. Season and Gentry Reedy leads the team in 3's and is coming close to the 700 career point plateau.

They advanced to the State Tournament in 05' losing to Knoxville Austin-East in the opening round in double OT. Made it to the sub-state last year as they lost to Memphis Hillcrest who went on to win the 2A Title.

OC plays in the one of the toughest 2A districts with Dyersburg, Westview, Milan, Gibson Co., Crockett Co. and Dyer Co. most of whom have been to the state tourney in recent years.

The Lady Rebels currently tied with Westview and Milan for tops in the district with each team having 1 loss .. OC just lost to Westview who in turn lost to Milan this past Tuesday. Milan hasn't lost a game since losing to OC in mid-December and the two teams meet again next week.

Hope this helps with a little more info on the OC Lady Rebels.

Sequatchie has four averaging from around 9 to around 13 points, very balanced unselfish group. All four have scored over 20, though, so when it's needed they have some they can step up their game. It's not a big secret, they have 8 sophomores on a 14 player roster. Three normally start, and four of the five or six top scorers are 10th graders. The sophomore group is something around 80-15 since sixth grade, but they're getting good play too from the two seniors on the team and one junior. They have one other junior playing JV, she's new to the school this year from West TN and still working on getting into the mix. JV is doing well too, hasn't lost a game, none of the sophomore starters play JV, they dress out in case the team is down to four players due to foul trouble and/or injury. Losses have been all on the road: at #1 Upperman by 12, at #12 in AAA Heritage by 10; at #10 in GA 4A Dalton by 8 (15-1 team); at NW Georgia (Dalton, usually ranked in 4A) by 7. Upperman, Heritage and Dalton have a combined record of around 45-4 this year, and the team's leading scorer missed most of the game against NW, so the losses have been against quality opponents on the road. They haven't beaten enough top level opponents yet, but they're just focusing on district play now no matter the other teams' records.

From what I know of East Tennessee:

Austin East ranking seems to be accurate, they have a few early losses, but to some good teams. A quick athletic team as many of you have probably seen in the state tournament the past few years. Haven't seen them play this year but I would think they are playing that same style. Are lead by Juniors Shyminacka Marsh and LaKrystle Goss and Seniors Brittney Allen and Bianca Blair who all helped their team to the state tournament as freshman and sophmores. Should be poised for a state tournament run with their age and post season experience however an early loss to district foe Seymour exposed some weaknesses.

Gatlinburg Pittman seems just slightly overranked but worthy of a ranking with the record they have. Have only one loss but haven't played a tough schedule. Schedule ranking of 90th in the state. A very well coached team who plays hard from the tip. Play in your face defense and let their defense turn into their offense. May be a bit down from last years substate team in my opinion with the loss of starting guard Hardy and McCroskey. They are led by senoir guard Brittney Everhart and senior post Cindy Webb and Stephanie Carr. Should make a strong post season run however lack of size and schedule strength stand in their way.

Claiborne is always well coached and hardworking. They are led by senior guard Whitney Parkey, who is the coaches daughter. A deadly shooter who can also put the ball on the floor to get to the line. Creates a lot of her offense off of her defense. Also have a freshman post player who is said to have D1 potential. Haven't made the trip to Claiborne so I can't tell you a lot about her. Could possibly have a strong post season, Coach Parkey always comes in with a set and usually effective game plan, loss of senior point guard Simmons could hurt in the post season because I don't know what kind of supporting cast they have with Parkey.

Don't know much about Tellico Plains. They have losses to #16 Polk Co. and Seymour, also a loss to single A Greenback. However, they beat a very good McMinn Central team and also have wins against two Pa. teams and a team from NY. Are lead by Brooke McKinnon.
