Maryville has started out 3-0 and 2-0 in district play. They defeated Sevier County 10-0 today for their second shut out in the past two days. I know it's very early but I think they will be better that last year. District 4 is loaded with tallent this year and who knows what might happen.

I don't think I said anything about being a contender in the district this year but one of the contenders took a loss on Monday night on their home field from a better Maryville team. I am 55 years old, I don't play for Maryville, I don't have a kid that plays for Maryville and I don't intend to start jousting back and forth with you on who will win the district.

I am a high school baseball fan and watch many other teams play besides Maryville. I hope that dosen't mess up your day and I hope your team does well this season.

This is a tough district and with Maryville being improved it will just get tougher. With Maryville 3-0 and Farragut 0-2 (both district losses) it seems to be turning around.

QUOTE(HB2021 @ Feb 22 2007 - 11:11 AM) 826384287[/snapback]Farragut lost 16 or 17 games last year and should have lost more. Rob Catapano is gone and he won all the big games for Farragut. Bearden lost 6 senior position players who were 3 year starters, but, they return all their pitiching staff. Several young players got a lot of varsity playing time due to injuries and sickness. I will pick Bearden over Farragut as Farragut could not beat Bearden even with Catapano on the mound. South Doyle and William Blount will also beat

Farragut this year.

As far as their booster club, they have a lot of money as Tommy Farr checked into the Cak job. He stayed at Farragut. You tell me why.

As usual when people write on Coach T, they don't have their facts right. Catapano--although a great picture in HS, he wasn't the guy that won all the big games for Farragut last year. A young man, B. Powell, was the winner in most of FHS games last year. He is now pitching for UT. As far as your picks for the season, you could be right for this early season. Farragut is very young this season--however--don't beat against them late. As you know--they a consistently lucky. Or should I say--they are consistently coached!

    • If he wanted to play QB he should have either went to Heritage or William Blount and had a real good chance there. In stead he'll be exactly what he was going to be at Maryville. They already know who their QB is going to be in 2025 and it ain't going to be him.
    • Easier said than done. The man who ran for 250+ yards and 3TDs is gonna be back….and a lot bigger.
    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
    • He was pretty darn good for a freshman, but he will have a hard time seeing the field at Oakland for a good while, I’m afraid.
