East Ridge 5

Lets talk about the Grundy County Lady Yellow Jackets!!! They downed Bledsoe Co. 2-1 tonight. In my opinion, the Lady Yellow Jackets are having a great season. Afterall they beat Marion Co. a couple of weeks ago. Nobody seen this coming when they were making their preseason predictions /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

QUOTE(Indian @ Apr 10 2007 - 09:24 PM) 826434270[/snapback]Hixson had 11 hits, add in some walks, reaching on fielder's choice, going to extra bases when Seq acted like they never played before, and five Seq errors and Hixson won 10-0 in 4 1/3. Sequatchie had 3 hits, 2 by the same girl. Hixson's Johnson' homered and doubled.

I follow Hixson somewhat and they have started hitting the ball better, but was a little shocked at Seq after last year and the start of this year I really though they would give a better showing?

Shuuuuush! Let the keep underestimating the Lady Yellow Jackets. That's a good thing. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Keep up the good work Grundy. You just may be the best ever on the Mountain.

Notre Dame beat Sequatchie 5-4 in Chattanooga. Tough loss for Seq, led 4-0 in the third. Notre Dame tied with three unearned in the fifth then won it with one in the bottom of the seventh. Both teams hit well, neither played too well on defense. Sequatchie's Cooley was 3-4 after going 2-2 against Hixson.

Sequatchie 4-3 over Marion, 2-2 now in the district. 7-12 record isn't the most impressive, but losses have been against the likes of Class AAA teams Mt Juliet (4th) Morristown West (6th), Beech (8th), Rhea (17th), mid-level AAA teams Bolton, Lincoln County, Red Bank, and good AA teams, CCS (9th), Notre Dame (12th), Hixson (better than their strength ranking in the 40s). Split with a pretty good Class A Whitwell team.

Sequatchie 18-0 over Howard in three. Some of the main players either didn't bat (including the leading hitter) or had one at-bat, game wasn't used to pad averages. Team had six doubles, most of those and a triple could probably have been stretched to ITP home runs but there was no need to run it up. They finished each inning by leaving the bag early on purpose. You have to hand it to Howard, they have a good time out there even though I've never heard of them winning.

Sequatchie at Bledsoe today was postponed. Wish that one could have been played if at all possible. That gives Sequatchie three district games-Bledsoe, East Ridge, Chattanooga Christian, an in-school game with Marion, a doubleheader at Polk and senior night vs Whitwell to play in just a few days, somehow. A non-district game with Grundy-at home- was already called off to get the CCS game in Chattanooga scheduled. That's a lost gate, Whitwell would probably be next in line to go, and it might rain out the in-school game tomorrow, another lost gate.

Sequatchie 9-3 over Marion today. Seq had three girls hit a home run each and everyone on the team (15) except the flex got to bat at least once. One of the freshmen was 4-4, team had 14 hits in six innings, hope to see that continue with district games still left to be played.

    • Y’all boys can’t spell discipline. Probably lead the state in personal fouls last year. Being halfway disciplined in 1 game against Smith County in 3rd round doesn’t dismiss the rest of the season. “Shoulda” won the state championship but those mouths got the best of you yet again. Marion already had a lot more retuning than y’all this year. Adding these 2 D1 kids will 100% make a major impact. Marion will stand on business this year. They haven’t forgotten. I’m just keeping it real
    • MC upgraded with 2 studs. If they can’t get it done this year with a generational speed talent in Pickett then I’m not sure they ever will. Huge favorite in the East currently.    Multiple offers from FCS calls for gold.
    • no they will be tough for sure
    • Marion just jumped ER as the favorites in the East. Two big time transfers for y’all kinfolks. Bullseye has been set now. I said it the last two years it is time and both times y’all let me down. Can’t say you’re short on talent this year or that you’re young. Time to put up or shut up. Surely y’all can get over the hump this year. I’m just keeping it real
    • Should have won by 30 last year if we played discipline at the very least. May have got 2 dogs up front but remember we have the best DL in the state on our team. Also added a 6’6” 320lb O lineman.
