QUOTE(easygoing7 @ Mar 2 2007 - 10:52 AM) 826396746Conference play doesnt during the regular season doesnt matter that much. Yeah its good to win confrence and to place first, but its mostly to build up and prepare for the distict tournment.Thats what it all comes down to.

Who are going to be standout players this year in the imac?

If regular season conference play isn't that important, why would the conf. coaches choose to play so many conference games? Wouldn't they want to play other opponents and attempt to prepare for the tourney? Also, won't it lead to higher scores in the district tournament? Each team will now have an opportunity to see all of the decent starters in the league before the tourney.

Will any of these teams be competitive in region play, or will Science Hll and DB continue to send the IMAC packing?

QUOTE(7inningparadise @ Mar 8 2007 - 08:14 AM) 826404462I am sure it will be another dissappointing year for the IMAC, they will lose to Science Hill or DB, or whoever knoxville produces, just like always

How are u so sure of that. The season hasnt even started yet. You cant come to a conclusion this early.

East look pretty good for there first outing seeing live pitching. Collins looked a lil rusty on the mound but he will be alright. Greene, Dickerson ,and Wilson all threw well.

I am not just sure , I would take 10 to 1 odds on it, it is the same every year, and with DB an Scien Hill stronger than ever and Knoxville with the teams they have, there is no chance some one is going to come out of that weak conference.

Well I would also take the 10-1 odds and that is all it takes is one time to put someone out, but i mean last year east played science hill and farragut to of the top teams around here. science hill beat east by 1, also farragut by 1 run and the score of that game was 3-2 with them having 2 unearned runs. so taking that east can still play with the best. Even though or confrence is a lil weak. And if east takes away a few mistakes we beat both of them. So u can not say that east isnt able to play with them. Also if i remember it right D-B game was a great game if im not mistaken east might have beat them, not for sure on that it was at the beginning of the season last year.

If I recall correctly, East also was the reg. season champ of that district last season, yet they failed to get out of the tourney. But forget all of that; it is obvious that you are right. East has had tremendous success since the firing of ex-head coach and current Carson Newman skipper Tom Griffin. He won a district championship (tourney-the one that counts) in his only year there, and I don't think it's been done since. Bow to the Trojans

wow... nothing new here, just another West fan that thinks their crap doesn't stink... you know frankenvol, it's people like you that make me ashamed to say I am from Morristown... all you kind of people ever talk about is how West is so much better that everybody else and that they're foing to win everything... guess what. You ain't good. It's time you come down off of your high horse and stop disrespecting everybody else and talking this big game because i know everybody is tired of hearing how great West is when every year, you're not that good. You can not back it up on the diamond... Until you can, be quiet and just play/watch baseball or whatever you do... and get your facts right before you talk smack cause you can't even do that well... Tom Griffin did not get fired, he simply liked coaching college ball better... beating West was just not enough of a challenge for him... oh congrats on the tournament last year... every blind squirrel finds a nut sooner or later

Not remotely a fan of WHS, but I can't say that I'm a big fan of the 'Canes either. How can you be? Even true East fans can't be happy with their current situation. Altizer could care less about baseball success. Also, get the chip off your shoulder. If you have an issue with the fans of other programs it is a sign that you are confident in your own team.

Frankenvol u have no clue about Altizer he wants the kids to win just as bad as they do. And i would have to say that u would not say that to his face. You may talk as if u would, but I promise you that you would not.

Back to baseball for which the topic is about, Heard the other day hazelwood might be out for the season. Thats horrible to hear for him he was a heck of a player, and a dang good guy. Hope everything turns out good and he will be able to play this year.

What day does the tourney actually start. I know East plays Cocke Co. tuesday any games going on monday?

    • Understand the young thing.  I was one of those.  Barely 17 when I graduated from high school and started college.  But redshirting for athletic purposes isn't doing them any favors, in my opinion.  Life isn't always going to be fair.

    • The Girls Basketball team I am a part of played for a gold ball this season. One of the biggest differences in the sports is that there is no field prep/maintenance in basketball.   Our baseball is successful and play 30 games in the regular season as well. All of the teams dedicate A LOT of time in preparing for their next opponent.
    • Im pretty excited about the new rules that NFHS voted to adopt. Does anyone know if this will take place in Tennessee starting this year? I think I heard/read somewhere that the TSSAA bi-laws say they have to mirror what the NFHS does, and when the NFHS offered the current weight classes as options, TSSAA didn’t adopt them until NFHS made them official. Did NFHS make these changes official starting next season or will it be similar to the weight classes where TSSAA doesn’t change what they are doing until it is  an officially official part of the NFHS rule book? It’ll be interesting to see if it is rolled out for the new TSSAA Middle School season and I saw a post where the youth wrestling in TN was going to vote on adopting it as well.  I’ll pray for all the youth coaches that will have to shoulder the confusion from all those crazy #### parents who already think they know the rules more than everyone else  . Imagine the first time their kid is taken down and a 3 goes up on the scoreboard or their kid gets pinned with only one point of contact in the cylinder. Their heads might explode. i kid, I kid. Sort of. I’m surprised ride time was brought down with all the other changes. I know some argue that it promotes stalling on top, but its been an official scoring method in college forever, so I figure it must be doing something right. Do any of you think that’ll ever be implemented?
