yea we usually just punch out the other team so they dont have a chance. so yea this would be our classiest game ever /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

get over it just because our player didnt accept the hand of your player and we didnt spit shine -your team's- (replacing yall) shoes doesnt mean we have never played with class before. everybody does something regrettable at times, thats just life.

I follow the Vikings everywhere they go. This is the first time I've seen one of Humboldts players refuse the helping hand. If it had been replayed, you would have seen the intentional elbow that place him on the floor in the beginning.

Do you recall when the starting line up was called, the last 2 or 3 players didn't even meet Humboldt at center court to shake hands.

Do you not recall the 2 fellows bickering with Chauncy right after the elbow and the refusing of the hand.

The loss hurts, get over it. Go home or enjoy the rest of the tourney.

Ok, I will settle this so everyone will stop crying about class and unsportsmanship. The game was sloppy, the refs were letting them bang it out, and things got a little heated, considering there is a championship on the line I can understand why. I am a Humboldt fan, but I am also a fan of seeing good games. This was not a good game; shooting was awful, turnovers were frequent, and the refs should have cleaned the game up from the start.

Humboldt missed 20 free throws so if they hit half of them they win by 19. I want to know from the Wartburg fans what you thought about how y'all played. Is that your average game, does the big guy normally play more, or what y'all do when playing better.

Yes, many peoplde from Humboldt and the West were picking Humboldt in a blow out, but if free throws are made then it easily is a 20 point win. And yes, they are speaking correctly when they say that this is the third best team in our district.

I was impressed with the effort Wartburg put out today; they did not get caught up in the atmosphere and were not intimidated by the heavy favorite. DJ Shannon is legit, and I will have to tip my hat to him.

As for the play were the Humboldt player did not let the Wartburg player help him up, I did not think it was that big of deal. Everyone is making it out to be like he is Ron Artest or something. Both teams were shoving and were mouthing at each other, so do not think that one play means that the West or Humboldt in particular "has no class." The Wartburg fans did not like it, but y'all were down at that point in the game and you probably wouldn't have even mentioned it if you would have won. But it is in the past and there are more games to be played.

Congratualtions on a great season on behalf of the Humbodlt fans!

QUOTE(Grace Golden Eagles @ Mar 15 2007 - 12:18 AM) 826412479[/snapback]From my point of view, the two best teams in the Single A tournament played this game.

I have to agree, I think Wartburg had the best chance to beat Humbolt, just because of the uptempo style they play. It will definitely be hard to beat Humbolt. Also, this was probably the worst shooting day they'll have. It will be tough for the remaining teams. Great season though dogs. Made me proud #2!

Here is how Wartburg usually plays:

First half of the game - The way they always play (usually have more points at halftime though than 30)

Second half of the game - The way they play when they still got a chance

fourth quarter - Lost hope.

ive read a couple of posts on here saying that the "west" doesn't have any class....wow...lets go ahead and bring up your fellow cosby team from the EAST last year...right after that got beat by humboldt in the 1st round, they were walking back to the lockeroom and one of the players (can't remember who but i think it was the big 6'4" white kid) flipped the humboldt crowd off...plain as day to see too...so lets see...(A) refusing to receive the help to be picked up or (/cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" /> get beat by humboldt by 20 after being the #1 team in the state and flipping off the humboldt crowd...hmmm /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" ....i choose choice B since it is "unclassy"

i was at the game and i would like to say congrats to the dogs. I thought we had it til the end of the 3rd and we just fell apart. Wish we had of come out on top but we didn't. Oh well it was a great game anyways. As far as Humbolt what happened to all the dunks you were suppost to come down on us?

The refs I thougth could have done a lot better job, one could only blow fouls on blue. Only blowed 2 fouls on Humbolt the whole game.

As for the crying about the rude behavoir of humbolt player. I guess us hillbillys just think thats wrong, you may not down in the west.

Even our radio announcer thought it was bad sportmanship and said s

    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
