They have only 9 games this year. Couldn't find anyone for the 10th.... They play 2 4a teams out of Nashville and dropped Cookeville and Central and Rhea County...

I hate Ooltewah & Cookeville couldn't continue their series! It was great while it lasted! 2 close games!

The Cookeville Cavs replaced Ooltewah & Boyd-Buchanon with Knox.Central & Memphis University School!

Wish the best for the Owls this year! Hope they can find their games!

I don't put a lot of stock in middle school hype. Around the weight room, the McCulley kid and a kid named Oliver are putting up impressive strength numbers for their class. Both are as strong as

most sophomores and some juniors. Coach Welch at Ooltewah Middle thinks McCulley can be All State

by the time he leaves. The Oliver boy is about 5'9" with a very strong arm and can run. I understand

he will be the qb. With that said, we've seen freshmen at Ooltewah not make the grade by the time

they make varsity. It boils down to desire, work ethic, and paying dues.

Iv seen goose play and he isnt much...iv seen Oliver play and he will most likely be at the starting QB spot for the Ooltewah freshman team....so to answer ur question if he will have to sit this year?....my answer is unless he gets alot better he will most likely sit all 4 years if he stays at ooltewah......sorry to hurt your feelings

just dont try to talk a kid up too much if you have no idea....k, thanks

i wasn t hyping any kid,i was making small talk and i also asked if there were any other kids up and coming kids, but by your reaction to this and by blurting out how good this oliver kid is supossed to be ,and he is going to be the starting qb,leads me to believe, oliver is related to you or what ever, and that you are nervous about wether or not he can handle the pressure. but i am not going to sit here and slam you or akid ,i know nothing about yet,i hope oliver and goose and mculley kids all do very well and dont get injuried during their high school careers. and i dont think that ooltewah coach would be happy about you throwing his name out there like that. please think next time. other talented freshman names i ve heard talk around town

;mobely, russel, moore, dekamo, holland, blake, myrick, parrot etc..,..all great young men from east tn/n georgia ! so take achill pill, god bless go tigers!!!!!!

The QB situation at Ooltewah should be solved with sophmore transfer Brady Reed transfering from Baylor. Also Goose Manning is a decent football player with a lot of heart and desire, but no where ready to make an impact at Ooltewah as a freshman. He wont make an impact till his junior or senior season....too small.

I have talked to some of my coaching friends around town and accordding to them,w/ the bunch of boys coming through ooltewah(sophs n juniors),no freshman will get playing time, unless ooltewah is up by 100 pionts. And small as nothing to do with playing time,(look at brian marshall)even though marshall is lightning fast.if you can play football or anything ,coaches dont care are big you are. friday night seems to have the right attitude and common sense. further more owlszz should be happy that ooltewah is getting good talent year in year out. GO TIGERSSSSSS!!!!!!!

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
