Turf or Grass

Any of you help to maintain your field? I help with field maintainence for Sullivan South. We have Bermuda. We also have separate practice (football-Bermuda), soccer and baseball fields so it usually lasts a bit longer. Don't know much about Turf. I would think it to be much harder. Until week 0 we mow at .75" and then after season starts we go up to about 1.25". We cut & vacum it on Wednesdays before the paint crew hits it for the Friday game. Then we cut it on Saturdays and Mondays depending on the weather. Bermuda is great for a short period of time here in TN. But it doesn't come on strong until late May and it is history (brown) by the middle of October. UK uses Bluegrass (of course) and Fescue and they claim to have green grass in December ($$$).

True highschool football is only played on grass... leave the turf to the pros if they want it..

I agree. However the situation in Morristown was horrible. See my previous post.

Yeah, because of the situation at Burke-Toney in which it gets used for EVERYTHING imaginable, we had to turf it.

What a beautiful sight...GREEN grass er turf........and just think...it will be that way in ....a couple of weeks!
