THE 3-5-2 /5-3-2 ARE REALLY THE SAME. THE 3 IN THE BACK ARE FLAT AND THE 2 ARE BASICALLY

DOUBLE STOPPERS / DEFENSIVE MIDS. I LIKE THIS FORMATION BECAUSE IT PLAYS TRUE WINGERS. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

YOu can adjust. Play two stoppers or one . Play none with attacking mid. Gives alot of flexibillity.

personally i prefer a 4-3-3 without a flat back 4...maybe that is just because our defensive players are the slowest on the team...that could be why people score a lot on us. even a 3-4-3 can be effective if you have strong midfielders who aren't afraid to challenge forwards or other midfielders while the ball is in the air or on the ground

QUOTE(DeutchlandForever @ Apr 3 2007 - 01:05 PM) 826429000my team runs a 3-2-3-2. we used to run a 4-4-2, but the new formation is working. the three top mids can concentrate more on the attack without worrying about racing back on defense.

by playing that formation you pretty much lose all attack from the wing which is a huge part. a team that bunkers down on defense has an easier time stopping your attack

Try penetrating the 3-2-3-2, You'll be pushed outside. I know of a nationally ranked coach who loves this formation. He usually wins and wins big against other top division teams. You gotta have some horses, but when you do......big scoring games.

QUOTE(No1ScoresOnMe @ Mar 29 2007 - 02:29 PM) 826425918The flat back 4 is a death trap. All it takes to beat that kind of defense, regardless of the defenders' talent, is an easy through ball or a backside switch. It also relies too much on the offside trap, and this could be effective if high school refs were better at making accurate(strongly stress this word) offside calls, but I've never found it logical to have your defense rely heavily on a referee's whistle.

well if your defense knows how to play a flat back 4 and mark up on it than a flat back 4 is a fine way to play. It doesn't rely on a offsides trap at all there are tons of different ways to make it work. Also if you have a two strong center backs that can lead the team it is very effective.

A flat back is not a offside trap, it can be played that way, however with only two refs at most high school games it would not be recommended.

The flat back four is very good defensivly as you have players covering the width of the field, having four players who all pressure, cover and provide balance is ideal. With a sweeper / stopper system the sweeper is left to do all the covering and a smart team are going to move the sweeper to the other side of the field. if played correctly the 4-4-2 can also be very offensive, with the outside backs pushing up 'ball side' to contribute to the attack.

I personally play a 4-2-4 when I play FIFA for Xbox 360, best formation by far in real life too!......not! This is another example of an opinion, everyone has a certain formation they like but that doesnt mean that anothers is wrong, like someone said earlier in the post. A coach accounts for the players he has and then chooses his formation. He doesnt just fill players into a formation... that wouldnt work at all. Lets just all agree that a formation depends on the players.

But..the 4-2-4 is still by far the best!!! /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

a flat back four is an offsides trap because the back 4 defenders are flat in a line. You can play a four back with the two center backs dropping off a few yards. But a flat back is designed to press the field forward. The with a four back the center backs move and drop off in a line depending on where the ball is on the field

A flat back four will not stay flat, it will constantly be moving with players dropping to cover and pushing up to the ball to pressure. The majority of the time when the opposition is attacking, for example down the flanks a 'good' back four will be in a check mark or NIKE swoosh shape.
