So nobody else have district games next week? I believe Loretto has district games Monday and Tuesday. In my book that's just a poor excuse.

Overton has 2 district games vs Centennial and Franklin on Monday and Wednesday and they went out in the championship game and had freshman in the field as well as a freshman pitcher. Backing out of a tournament semifinal because you have a district game wednesday is just plain petty

All im gonna say about pitching and district games is that very few of the number 1 and 2 starters pitched a whole lot this week...for example:Austin hurt only picthed 2 innings and matthew utterback never pitched...IF riverdale had made the tournament he had already told 2 of our freshman they were dressing on sunday to pitch..(one of them being my son he was pretty excited so when we didnt make it he was disappointed)so i think there are things you can do about pitching you might lose 1 game but the experince for those freshman or sophmores is a lot more than what 1 loss in a tournament will do to you

I agree with you on this one greenwheel, but............T$$AA does not need to charge high school teams 4 games for entering a tournament. They should drop down to 3, have fewer teams in the thing and everybody could save pitching OR call it what it is, a tournament with JV pitching for the most part. Why is the varsity getting penalized for that? Now that the number of games have been reduced, I'd say that most teams will probably not play in tournaments in the future.

Loretto vs Overton reminded me of a slow pitch softball game. Overton finally put in a pitcher to get it over with. Loretto was the strongest team at hitting pitches out of the strike zone I've seen in a long time. They trick the pitcher into throwing one head high and hten they rip it out of the park. Interesting. Overton also had an interesting strategy....they steal third base better than they do second. Both teams have a lot of strengths.

The teams combined for 35 hits with including 4 HR's

 

Also, Overton pitching had 0 walks and 0 hit batters while Loretto pitching had 8 walks and 6 hit batters - probably the difference in the runs scored.
