My opinion

1.Victor McLin

2.Justin Blake

3.M.J. Brown

4.E.J. Epprson

5.Channen Geanes

I don't really see how you put Maclin in there as 1 but anyway.......Mr.Basketball M.J. Brown and Justin Blake would top my list....Some of these guys will have deep runs with their teams in the football playoffs, with Maclin maybe even playing in Murfreesboro in December...The wear and tear on his body will be a factor and his basketball conditioning won't be where it needs to be until maybe January....E.J will also probably miss a few games to the football playoffs but he has proven he can handle playing football and basketball......AA will be more wide open now that Liberty is in 3A...This should be a real good year for basketball in West Tennessee.....

Victor McLin is easily one of the top players from West TN for sure! Have you seen this guy play?

I agree..McLin is easily one of the most talented all-around players around here...He can dribble, shoot, pass, slam it home, run the pg position...you name it and he can do it...

I would take McLin over MJ, Blake,EJ, AND Channen...but that's just my honest opinion....If McLin would've transferred to DC as some folks WERE SPECULATING DC would've been a front runner for a state championship but that's just my opinion! I'm taking nothing away from MJ, Justin, EJ, or Channen as they are all premier players from West TN....

I've seen all 5 of these players several times over the years..Have seen Channen just about every game he's played since I go to all the Lake Co games...Have seen Blake a lot ...I go to the Dyer Co games when Lake co isn't playing and I live in Newbern and my son goes to school there...Have seen M.J. and Epperson probably 20 to 25 times each..during the regular season..tournaments... also when both Humboldt and U.C. have played other schools close by..Have seen McLin about 6 times....Blake has improved on his range even more since last year playing AAU ball and working out with his strength coach..Dickie Nutt,Arkansas St. was in Newbern about 2 days ago and Andy Kennedy,Ole Miss was in town yesterday recruiting Blake....Ranking these 5 would probably depend on a teams needs..If you're needing a rebounder and a shot blocker..go with McLin..Not sure about his range from outside...If you need a pure 3 point shot specialist..Blake is the man ..M.j.Brown and Channen Geanes can both shoot from outside but can also take it to the basket..both are excellent shashers and Channen has those long arms and can slash and drive the basket for easy buckets..Rumor is that Geanes has been tearing it up in camps since the season ended..Heard Lake Co won a camp at Martin and beat Brownsville and Ricky Taylor..M.J. could have had better stats than he's had but isn't selfish and has a lot of talent and shooters around him the past couple seasons...Epperson is probably the best leaper and looks to be the best athlete of the bunch..is a good rebounder and shot blocker ..but not much range away from the basket and a terrible free throw shooter....My top 5 would be 1.Justin Blake ..2.M.J.Brown 3.Channen Geanes.4.Victor McLin.5.E.J.Epperson...Just feel like Blake is too good a shooter not to be #1 and has stepped up his game on defense ..Channen and M.J should both be at the top in West Tenn this year in scoring and top players on their teams..Both can handle the ball ..Victor is tough around the goal..just not sure he's as well rounded as M.J. and Channen in all aspects...Take Epperson away from the basket and because of free throw shooting..he comes in last....But any of the 5 could make someone's list as #1..Just depend on what your're looking for..

Victor's a great rebounder and shot blocker and is a warrior on the court..Don't believe he can handle the ball as well as M.J. Brown,Channen or Justin..Any of these 3 can bring the ball up the court..not pass at all and get their shot off..Can take over a game!

I believe Epperson's at the bottom of the list..Tremendous looking athlete..Has no shot from the outside and is a terrible free throw shooter...Game on the line..I'd want the ball in the hands of any of the other four if I were on their team..If I were on Epperson 's team..Definitely wouldn't give him the ball..The opposing team would just foul and it would be ugly!I'd definitely have him in the top 5 though because of the things he can do!

Justin Blake may be able to dribble the ball up the court but he DOES NOT penetrate to the basket...he stays outside and looks for the 3 point shot...he has no inside game at all...all of his points come from 3 pt range or from right inside the three...you may not agree but it's a fact

I agree with you on that....But the Ole Miss coach came and put what they call the gun on Blake and told Blake that college basketball was backing the 3 point line up this year and that it would effect a lot of shots..Justin was shooting farther out anyway and drained the 3 ball at will during the session and he told Justin that he thought Blake could out shoot tne juniors and seniors he has on the team now..I'm a Channen Geanes fan myself but Blake can get you 10 points in a hurry...Blake will be able to shoot the long ball in college..Where would Victor McLin play at the next level? At 6'4..I don't believe he has the shot to play guard..At 6'4..a player like Chris Douglas Roberts would have a field day..not sure he would be able to hold his own down low with players like Dozier or Taggart from Memphis..Former Trenton star Nicheaus Doakes would have had his way..Not saying these players wouln't give Blake trouble either but someone could set a screen from the outside and he has as quick a trigger as anyone in the area..May not even need a screen!

Apparently you have seen mcLin play lately. The Kid has an outside shot. And now, Will drive in and posterize a defender at will.

I'll admit..Haven't seen Victor play since the Dyersburg -Dyer Co game that I thought Dyersburg was going to win..As far as not being able to drive..I believe Blake hit a driving lay up at the buzzer to win the game for Dyer Co...I'm looking forward to seeing Victor play as well as the others...As a matter fact, three of the five will be in the Dyersburg jamboree..Lake Co usually plays Dyer Co in the Dyersburg jamboree so Blake and Channen Geanes will play against each other then...I believe Dyersburg usually plays Brighton.. Dyer Co would have to be the top team in the area with all the players they have coming back, plus another player from Dyersburg that transferred about a month or two ago..Lake Co also has another good player in Channen Geanes brother,6'5 jr. Russel Avery...Look forward to seeing all of them..All of the guys are excellent players and probably couldn't go wrong with any of them..I have Epperson as last but if your team already had a Justin Blake or an M.J.Brown..probably would be a good choice..

    • Problem with DB football goes beyond coaching. Like Waco said. Thr band is the main focus of their community and school. They have the resources to be a championship level team. Guarantee Ballard or Witten could have them nationally relevant at some point but everyone down to peewee would have to buy in and at DB we all know that would never happen.
    • I know the RB from OR he’s fast and has good hands. Is good on special teams also. Didn’t want to play defense over to the Ridge.
    • Lieutenant Flip flops is on a roll. #1 recruiter in Anderson Co, fo-sho.
    • Has there been any effort to contact college coaches other than Trevecca?
    • 5star put out and article about the QB competition for Clinton like they have 9 other schools. They listed a QB that was previously on Powell’s roster last year. He was the Frosh that could throw great wearing number 5. He was not mentioned as a transfer.  HC was quoted in getting two running back transfers one being from OR that has been mentioned on these boards as well as another from TKA.  I had heard about these and more transfers. It is impressive that Clinton is able to steal away from the recruiter at Powell.  I wonder if the issue with the principal will change that or open the gates even more.
