Jeff Co wound up with the best score --East wound up with the most

penalities.

Very costly loss for East losing two players in a game that meant no

more than bragging rights.

Neither team had any offense worth mentioning. Both teams played

good defense.

It was a very good night for a football game. Not a sprinkle the entire

game

Now M-E and Jeff Co can get down to business playing in their Conference.

I hope both teams found what they need to work on. Good luck to both.

What was the score? and What do you mean by "losing two players?"

Congrats to Coach Gut and the boys on a good win. I didn't watch it but drove by the stadium right as the game ended on my way back from Knoxville. I thought the scoreboard was wrong until I turned on the radio.

GO VOLS! GO PATS!

LOL, no kidding I heard 7-2 in the 2nd qt and thought what the heck is going on over there.

We kept getting players hurt. Their is some type of black cloud hanging over the Canes. The offense moved

the ball in the 1st-half. We got inside of the 10 yard line 2 time and could not score. If Morristown East could

get this offense going,( the way this defense is playing) East would be hard too beat. The offense is really

close to having a breakout game. Guys keep your heads-up, Good things will happen. We are still tied for

1st in our conf. Let's get ready for next week. Go Canes!

Note: Good luck to Jefferson Co. the rest of the year. your team plays with great heart.

Jeremy Jones: Concussion

Tyler Turner: Possible torn ACL

We have lost MLB Montes,C Terry Harris,RB Dockery,QB Turner more than likely for the year. The comment about the black cloud would seem to be right BUT I look at it like this. There are alot of young guys getting crucial playing time for next season and are playing really well. This team has become a young team quickly and they are 2-1 and could have been 3-0. They are gonna learn and figure out how to win at this level. They will work harder this week than ever and be ready for cherokee on friday.

    • Anyone know how the scrimmage at Central went?
    • I grew up watching Greene Devil Football since I could walk and still close with a lot of the coaches so should know my history pretty well lol.  Everything worked out the way it should have but firmly believe McCurry would have won some State Title if he wouldn't been let go (Greeneville still runs the same D he brought here and he let Ballard run the O and stayed out of it when it came to calling plays.  Greeneville was put out in the Semi's McCurry's last year against Maryville and the next year Greeneville stayed in 4a and was State Runner up playing were they were placed for the first time by the TSSAA.). It was definitely a McCurry and Ballard show that turned everything around along with the Community buying in and revamping the weight room and field house. Since Ballard got promoted to HC every Coach after him has been within the Greeneville Coaching staff because your right, they know what it takes to win a state championship.  Ballard was a master mine on O and what i think Greeneville has lacked since he left and let some Championships or making it to the Championship slip away over the last few years
    • Sounds like you know your area history well. Going back and looking the records were better than I thought but mostly still beating Upper East TN schools. Ballard sounds like he came/was promoted at the right time.    I do think it’s no coincidence that them keeping the HCs as guys who were former guys on the staff. Too many times schools want a “state championship” leveled coach from the outside but they don’t know the landscape. Promoting from within will help with less turnover and keep the program consistent.
