LOL, DB better not lose this friday or Mr Crazy's head will explode /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

If DB loses Friday night (JC a good team/bad team it doesn't matter) there will be a bigger explosion than Mr Crazy's head. And we are not talking the big E. There was a very strong undertow last year after an early exit. Several more loses and it could turn into a category V. The pressure is on DB, and the coaches and players feel it. JC needs to take advantage of it early. GC has not gone to his Bowden playbook and will keep things conservative. I have said from the beginning this team is not strong enough to overcome mistakes. A failed Bowden play and GC really looks bad. I agree with an earlier post of DB needing a go to player that can dominate when needed. Over the years DB has certainly run into their fair share of those on other teams, especially in the playoffs.

You're saying that the "show boating" is what has changed? "The Walk", AKA "The War Whoop" has been around for a long time. It appears to me that the "show boating" as you put it was in response to teams like Oak Ridge who put a lot of energy into intimidation. Of course, except for last year, OR usually back the intimidation up on the field play. Ya'll need to make up your minds. You complain about no energy in the stands but you want to shut it down pre-game on the field. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" The crowd just resonds to positive action on the field and before potential big plays. Parents yell at every play for little Johnny.

I'll take DB by 10.... since GC missed band practice Saturday. He must have been watching film and working on more changes.

I'm not alone on keeping traditions such as the walk, but the indivivual players breaking line to run out in front of the rest of the players IS NOT a tradition. The "look at me" tradition just started the past several years. Both starters and non starters are now doing it. At some point when all 100 are doing it they will have to start at the other end of the field to have enough time. I can see it now, players changing the way they run through the "T". Maybe a dance? Perhaps Chief Osceola needs to ride in on a motorcycle. Dont start on the energy in the stands, at least the football fans are staying for the entire game and not leaving after the halftime show.

I guess as parents we all have to look at the pros and cons if we hold our kids back or send them early.I don't know if Chris was just held back and his age fell good on top of that or what. The fact is,he 's a fine athlete even if he was in the 10th or 11th grade as some kids will be at his age. The good is all the extra years to get stronger and maybe mature a little. The bad is very few kids will make money in sports for many reasons, and while the kids your age are finishing school and making money, your just starting. I've seen to many kids not make it because of injuries. We preach grades first and second, football third and career ending girls fourth.

I'm not sure of the obsession with this kid being held back or whatever. I'm not sure of the reasons why but it happens to kids that don't play football...are we going to discuss them as well? I'm confused about the comment of kids his age already being out of school and making money while he is still in high school. Please...he'll still do his 4 years in high school just like all the others. I'm sure coaches will focus on his grades or he won't play...if they'll sit Lamon Williams down they'll sit any kid down...but I also know this staff has worked tirelessly to get kids opportunities to study (and play) at the next level. Can we just drop the issue that he is a Freshman and should be a Soph or Jr...I'm sure he's not the only student in that situation today or for many years past. He is a kid after all.

Yeah I couldn't agree with you more. It's REALLY hard being the best player on the Frosh team when your 16 playing againist 14 year olds wow thats a tough challenge.

I honestly doubt at 21 you would be the best player on the DB freshman team. As I have stated before...Eric Ainge is 2 years older than Tim Tebow...how did that pan out? Just because a player is older doens't make them better...you still have to play

Chris will never be able to "dominate" a game he fakes an injury every other play, once somebody rocks him one or two good times he just gives up. Look at film from every game he has played in since 7th grade he quits after the first hit he takes.

I don't have to see a game film, i've seen him live on the field several times. He has "dominated" every game I have seen him play. I have only been to one freshman game this year and he was all over the field on both sides of the ball. He took some big hits and delivered some big hits. He neve quit. You are obviously jellious of him for some reason. I say he probably is dating your ex-girlfriend. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

I guess the big deal is that he is a fine athlete and as you have read,he is more of a junior than a freshman. It depends on what side of the fence your looking from as to how you take this move.If it makes a difference when and if we start in the playoffs against maybe a team we have allready played,it was a great move I think. If your a senior that had to wait his turn and you loose playing time to Chris, plus the move doesn't make a difference because of the problems we have had to this point ?We were not supposed to win the last three. With or without Chris,we are supposed to win most of the remaining games. This move may help in the place that I've been talking about, and thats depth.I do think we can use a lot more kids on special teams and we allready had some kids that could play more on the defence and offense.

I know first hand that he is a fine athlete, I have watched him play freshman, with that said I also saw him look average against souths frosh, except four big runs which one was called back because of a block in the back. Also he has got hurt in almost every game, so I guess what I am getting at is how is he going to help the varsity. I hope he does great, he is a good kid very polite. The only knock I would have against him is how much he showboats, it only makes the other team play harder.

I do believe the boys will get better it may take a little more time, but the more they play the better.

Good luck Indians and Pats! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

Everybody needs to chill. Clark is bringing Sensabaugh to varsity to add depth to the runningback position. We had a couple of running backs quit the team before the season. Something the coaching staff could of prevented but didn't. Now their short. Hogg & Sylvester playing both ways is becoming a problem as their going to have to run more because they have no passing game. If one of these guys gets hurt in a game theres no one to fill in. Its a good move and a no-brainer. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

Is Sensabaugh the big RB that was in middle school last year and played against Jefferson Middle school of Jefferson county on DB's field?

He has allways been a good polite kid. I don't know when he started acting the way he did at the south game. That's something that he needs to stop doing. The one South kid tried to take his head off later in the game, I think you can bring stuff in your dirrection that you don't need. Act like you have been there before.

Hey! Did you people know its DB vs. Jefferson Co. Friday night? /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

This year will mark the first year of JC'S comeback, so DB will have to be ready to play. This is not the same Jeff Co. team we have seen the past three years. They have their ship righted and will be a force in the Big East from here on out. You people better get your heads screwed on right.

It ain't about Chris Sensabaugh.

If he gets hurt every game he's not gonna last long Friday night. Jeff Co defense will flat out knock your socks off. East got 2 hurt last week. One with a concussion, one with a ACL. I'm not wanting anyone to get hurt, just stating the facts.

    • I've always been a football fan first and then if you have a band that's awesome. No question that DB has one of the best bands in the country and the whole region should attend at least one DB game just to see their band. I don't know if Nick Saban could come to Kingsport and build a football program that could match the Dobyns Bennett band's success. That said,as mentioned before, a couple of things would have to change in order for the Tribe to just win a state championship on the field.Besides a program that starts from the peewee teams and goes all the way to J Fred with all coaches and weight training { in time }on the same page. Sometimes it also takes a little luck like the 1998 Vols .There are a lot of great athletes at a lot of big schools around the state and just because you want something doesn't mean your going to build a program like Alcoa has. Yes,start at the bottom and have guys that are quality coaches teaching at every level is 100% the first step. Parents can make it a lot easier by getting their young athletes into an early start with conditioning and weights as well when they are old enough to lift.If your son is a man in the weight room before he gets to DB , then it won't take a "Dobbs" coach to make him competitive against other schools athletes when it comes to strength.
    • Dyersburg scrimmaged South Gibson last week
    • A complete cultural change happened at Greeneville and the administration and community opened up their checkbooks.  What a lot of people don't know is Ballard was Zeller's OC for many years and stopped coaching for two years because Zeller and Ballard didn't see eye to eye on some things.  Zeller lead Greeneville to it's first ever Semi Final appearance in 2000 and lost 28-12 at Maryville and had them in the Quarter Finals in 2002 and 2003.  Z was a great coach but lost some control when it came to making workouts mandatory. (He learned from that Mistake and it was at LC when i coached with him.).  Z was let go going into my Senior Year and was replaced by Steve McCurry who was the one that turned the program around.  Steve had won a 4a state championship at AC Reynolds in Asheville and made the administration completely redo the weight room with new equipment, had a football period at the end of the school day to lift, started devil camp, and brought in coaches like Danny Bentley (Still the OL coach), Ballard as the OC, Cody Baugh (QB coach and still there), and even Spradlen who is Greeneville's head coach now as the DB's Coach.  McCurry only coached for two seasons at Greeneville and took a team that had a losing record the year before and finished my Senior Year making it to the Quarters and having a 10-3 record and then followed it up with a Semi Final appearance the next year with an 11-3 record and back to back conference championships.  Loved McCurry to death but the recession hit and the story i heard was he was still buying new equipment for the team that the Principal didn't authorize and his response was "I don't answer to you and only to Niswonger and Bewley" (Two huge donors).  That was it for him and they Promoted Ballard shortly after that.   Greeneville had always been relevant ever since the the late 70's under Coach Fred Sorrell's.  Since Sorrell's took over in 1977 Greeneville overall winning percentage is over 76%.  The biggest reason people might not have thought Greeneville was "Good" until Ballard was Greeneville always played up Classification wise and could never get over the hump. (When there were 3 classifications we played 3a, when it went to 5 we played 4a).  Greeneville is the largest its ever been with 953 students and where playing teams 2 or 3 times there size back in the day (I had a little over 800 kids in the school when i graduated in 2008).  Other teams always would know they would be sore after a game but depth took over and never won a Championship until Greeneville played in the classification the TSSAA actually assigned them. You had names like Dustin Moore (1993 Mr Football for 3a and who Phillip Fulmer said was one of the greatest athletes he ever recruited), James "Mud Turtle" Mayes, Brigham Lyons, Byron Gillespie, Frankie Debusk (National Champion Qb at Furman with GQ), Jasmine Lowery, Cody Baugh, The Greenway Brothers, Joe Watson (Furman), etc.  Now the cultural is from the Pee Wee league up and you grow up as a young kid wanting to wear the Greene and White.  Here is a really good link when it comes to anything Greeneville Football related. https://greenevillefootball.com/   I also don't coach anymore.  Z told me i was to smart with how the school systems are ran these days and ended up going into real estate in Knoxville which has been a great decision for my life.
    • Yes, they will. I'm wondering what kinds of strides Sale Creek will make heading into the second season under Coach Fitz.
