anybody else suprised by the closeness of the riverdale cookeville game?

Not really. Cookeville has many games since their rash of injuries, and fielded a team that has learned to play together as a result. Cookeville also did a good job of double marking Becca for most of the game, and shaded her to her left so that she could only move right. No secret that 70%+ of her goals are off her left foot, but the biggest thing was keeping the ball away from her (at least in the attacking third). She is just as dangerous feeding the ball to the other Warrior strikers.

They also did a good job of executing a low pressure defense the first half. While no one has executed it perfectly for an entire game against a very good Riverdale team, those that have tried it have forced quite a few errors. Maintaining patience and position in the second half is the key. The breakaway score came right after a Cookville defender chased to the middle third. Becca with the ball in the atacking third free to move to her left is a goal everytime.

Hoping for a good, injury free game for both teams on Thursday.

If your talking final score you are correct. As for the game itself, not so much. Cheryl only had to make two stops in goal and the ball was in the Riverdale offensive zone at least 70% of the game. Two wide open net misses and 3 headers just over the crossbar. But I'll tell you this, the Lady Cavs played one heck of a game also, so give them a lot of credit. #2 has a heck of leg and some of those free kicks could have created some decent scoring chances for them.

I'm sure some were surprised by the 0-0 halftime score of your game as well

Why not wait and see who really is picked by the ones with the knowledge, the coaches themselves. By the way I'm sure they will even know the names of the girls they are picking.

I know in 8aaa , but i am sworn to silence.

Really would not say anyway , for it causes too much contraversy.

PS

I am waiting to see .

By the way, i do know all the girls names but i did'nt make a list.

MJUHB did......... : /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

Well the score at halftime of the siegel blackman game was 1-0. The cavs did play a heck of a game and i really would not classify the ball being in the rhs offensive zone 70% of the time. They tore up the middle third from my viewpoint but to each his own. Honestly doesn't matter too much as long as they advance i just figured they would have found a way to finish those "wide open net misses" and "3 headers over the crossbar" and that's all i was commenting on.

Not that it matters, but the score was 0-0 at halftime. Someone from Siegel did kick the ball in the net after the ref blew his whistle and the Cookeville goalie was running off the field, but the goal did not count. The Blackman goalie was stellar in the first half when Siegel had 4 or 5 good scoring chances. Should be a good rematch on Thursday and I have to give Siegel the edge.

/roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> For the memory impaired:

9/18/07 Siegel 0 Blackman 0 at half.

9/27/07 Riverdale 0 Blackman 0 at half.

10/16/07 Siegel 0 Blackman 0 at half.

We had one parent tape all the games. I can see if they will let you review their tapes.

...and yes it does matter to the keeper.

Play hard and safe tomorrow night.

    • Congratulations to the Warrior baseball team winning the Region Championship.  Last night the football team beat Franklin Co 33-0 in their spring scrimmage. Warriors looked very good. Missing a few players who were playing baseball but still absolutely dominated. A lot of young ones got in halfway through the 3rd when the score reached 33-0. QB Tilton Pickett looked very sharp.  Sam Pickett is on another level this season. Seems to have put on 15 to 20 lbs in the off season and added a step as well. Transfer from last year Williamson caught numerous balls and is very elusive. Lots of athletes on this team. Defense was smothering and will only get better. The head coach from Sewanee was in attendance and offered 2 kids after the game. Could be a special year.
