Watertown vs Lookout Valley

Lookout Valley is hungry for a playoff win and will come out with everything on the line. LV learned last year that they have to play like there is no tomorrow in order to advance , and these boys want it bad. Look for Coach Webb to pull out all the stops for this one. The Valley is excited about having the game here and expect a large crowd to be pulling for the Jackets to win.

GO JACKETS

I hope we pull the victory out. I also hope it isnt like 2 years ago when GV came to the Valley. We shot off a bunch of fireworks and didshowy stuff. Then we got flat out embarassed. We satisfied with just the playoffs, not winning the game. I hope we can stay focused this week, and concentrate on winning the game.

Watertown will run whatever they think will work against Lookout Valley. I only saw them play against FCS, and to be honest with you I don't remember formations or anything like that.

I do know that Watertown has a solid QB in Philips who can run the ball and has good placement on his passes. They also have a pretty good Tailback in Blaze Eaton. Neither one of them is all state but they are both better than your average back. Their offense had it's struggles mid season, but seems to be comming on strong again at just the right time. Guess I can't call them middle school anymore. The biggest asset that Watertown has doesn't really get enough press. Their Coach is a good coach. coach Webster has gotten those kids motivated into believing they can beat anyone they step on the field with, he also does a good job of making adjustments at halftime and figuring out what will work and when. If Lookout Valley is stopping the Watertown Offense early you better expect them to change something up to work on it. Watertown has a blue-collar attitude about them.

I know that Lookout Valley has Chase Scruggs and they run an Wing-T. But what about the Defense? And is there any threat of a passing game?

ZP, I have seen several region 3 teams in person, but I have not seen H2O town. What are you basing your predictions on?

I don't know anything about LV....and have not seen Watertown play. But anybody that can beat Trousdale, play G-ville, Monterey to overtime and play FC close has my attention and respect.

I will say this. The Watertown team this year would have walked the dog on the GV team that went to LV 2 years ago. Thats about all I can offer.

We have a couple of other sets beside the wing-t. The team has developed a pretty good passing game this year. I knew whoever we ended up playing would be tough for us. Sounds like H20 will not disappoint.

This promises to be likely the closest matchup in the 1st round of Reg. 3 vs Reg. 4.

Watertown has experience in close games now, and the confidence to win.

TIGERS in a thriller.

GO PURPLE GANG!!

Thanks for the support, sure hope your prediction is right. Hope it doesn't go into overtime though, I don't know how many more of those my heart can take. Good luck to ya'll against SP as well!

My pleasure, T-Belle. For your sake, I hope it's not another OT game. They are fun to talk

about later, but hard on the old ticker at the time. We're going to need more than luck

against SP, tho. Luck won't heal our injuries.

I don't know a lot about LV - the last time I saw them play was when Gordonsville went down there to play a couple of years ago. But I do know about H2O town. They impressed the heck out of me last week when our G'ville boys went up to play them. The most impressive to me was the speed of their defense. G'ville open up so good holes on the line, but they closed on our backs SOOOOO fast that for 3 quarters they virtually shut down our run game.

When they ran, we met them at the line, but would drag our defense 3-4 yards on just about each play. And their passing - mostly short passes - kept our db's playing back. Playing back like that to respect the pass just opened us up to their quarterback tucking it up and scampering for 10-15 on more than one occasion. My son is a DB for G'ville and he said they were one of the harder hitting teams in region 4.

Lookout Valley best be firing on all cylinders because the purple Tigers are VERY hungry for a rematch with us - and could very well get it.

Good luck to both teams - and I just hope we get past Silverdale to see the winner.

    • Best-of-three sectional series vs East Robertson at home starting Wednesday.  They put us out last year at this point.  Go Pirates!!
    • I don't believe they have anyone that is surbers caliber but a decent staff overall.
    • Richland plays at McKenzie on Wed.  Should be a good series.  Does Richland have good pitching?
    • Congratulations to the Warrior baseball team winning the Region Championship.  Last night the football team beat Franklin Co 33-0 in their spring scrimmage. Warriors looked very good. Missing a few players who were playing baseball but still absolutely dominated. A lot of young ones got in halfway through the 3rd when the score reached 33-0. QB Tilton Pickett looked very sharp.  Sam Pickett is on another level this season. Seems to have put on 15 to 20 lbs in the off season and added a step as well. Transfer from last year Williamson caught numerous balls and is very elusive. Lots of athletes on this team. Defense was smothering and will only get better. The head coach from Sewanee was in attendance and offered 2 kids after the game. Could be a special year.
