Anderson Co. vs Carter

However, I believe Carter will be able to throw the ball pretty effectively. From what I've heard, one of AC corners is only about 5'11"-5'12" (Correct me if im wrong). Therefore, that lack of size on the one position might be exploitable.

 

Not to be picky, but 5'12" is kind of like 6' isn't it? If it is, that is actually not that much of a size advantage in high school football...there are not too many teams that have multiple receivers over 6'. Carter doesn't have too many tall receivers, do they? Not a problem sportsnut, that is why I am here. I think that this game will be won by the team that sticks to the run. This game will be won by the offensive line that wants to win the most; as are most games, but I think that between these two teams, the one that runs will be the one that wins.

Anderson County will win this game by 2 or 3 touchdowns. That region Carter is in is alot weaker than Anderson County's. Goodluck to both ball clubs.

Ok, I am under the impression that almost everyone is going with Anderson County. I feel that they are a good team that has survived the toughest region in the state. There is no true way to predict a winner, and we all know that games could go either way depending on how the kids are feeling, the weather, pregame meals, etc. But just looking back at the season I noticed a few things that may level the field for the lowly teams from Region 1:

 

1. Opponents win/loss rankings:

Looking at the win/loss records of the teams that AC beat, it adds up to 22-48.

Looking at the win/loss record of the teams that Carter beat, it adds up to 30-40.

 

2. Opponents' record

Anderson County beat 1 team with a winning record, Kingston at 6-4.

Carter beat 2 teams with winning records, Seymour at 8-2 and Rutledge at 7-3.

 

3. Points scored versus Points given up

Anderson County has scored 273 points and given up 197 points which is a difference of 1.4

Carter has scored 228 points and given up 166 points which is a difference of 1.4

 

4. Losses

Anderson County has lost to Catholic 10-0(27-14), Fulton 8-2(44-7), and AE 7-3(36-2) a final score of 107-23

Carter has lost this year to Bearden 9-1(38-0), South-Doyle 4-6(20-13), and AE 7-3(41-0) a final score of 99-14

 

I am well aware that statistics can be used to prove whatever you want, but as far as I am concerned these two teams are pretty evenly matched. I do not see a big difference between these two teams and this should be one heck of a game. Good luck to them both and may the winner play in Murfreesboro.

Good post from the underbrush. The only thing I'd point out is that AC beat Powell, which, like South Doyle, is in Region 3 4A. Powell beat SD 30-9, even though SD did pull some upsets on some of the other schools in that Region, which is the best Region in 4A year in and year out. So, that's another statistical point in AC's favor.

You can't use trasitive logic when involving South Doyle...otherwise Seymour would've lost to them just as Carter did and the Rutledge-Carter game would've been even more significant for the Pioneers...having said that, AC has a lot between the ears with their coaching staff and has been in the situation before on the road against Region 1 teams. Carter will need to be more like the Carter of 2005 or even mid-season this year in order to stay in another week...that homefield advantage needs to mean something.
