Antioch @ Independence

It's extremely difficult for a linebacker to be nominated for Mr. Football.

People love touchdowns and catches and stats like those when it comes to voting for a back, not tackles. I don't profess to have seen every linebacker in the state, but there's no way that Ryan isn't one of the three best LBs in class 5A.

But like tnsparty said, accolades and individual recognition and everything like that is irrelevant--winning is the only thing that matters.

Sometimes I think the "Mr. Football" award has something to do with fame and fortune. Now I'm not saying it applies in this case either way (referring to Ryan). However, I did notice Ben Bartholomew was nominated in D2. His stats as stated on the Tennessean were 412 yards and 2 TDs. Obviously these stats do not reflect the work he did blocking at fullback. And don't get me wrong he's most definately a legitimate UT recruit who is very worthy of his scholarship. But it just makes me wonder if this UT commitment from an affluent private school does not apply in some way to the whole fame and fortune thing about the award. That's just my 2 cents on it.

This thread is fairly quiet. Tnsparty has had a quiet week so far.

My take on this is that Antioch hears the roundball bouncing and is ready to start practicing b-ball. Anyway the Antioch o lines and d lines are overmatched.....and that is where the game will be won...in the trenches by Indy.

I seem to have run off some of the trolls. I have that affect on people. That's why our jousting was fun. Neither of us quit. I agree that the Indy OL/DL is better. Indy needs to put drives together like against DC and Gallatin and they'll do fine. Thier defense is also better than DC's was. Indy wins and moves to round 3.

Yeah Antioch is going to have their hands full with both Indy's offense (Pettigrew and Heckman) and the Indy D. The D line is definately better than the O line of Antioch. But besides that Heckman put up 266 yards on 15 of 16 passes, I dont know much about Antiochs secondary but they are gonna have a tough time putting up with the dual threats of Indy.

Im saying Independence by 17.

p.s. packfan i agree Ryan is a leader of the D and on almost every tackle you will be hearing his name.

Packfan is right. With Fox being there in the morning, tomorrow is going to be a pure football day from the start at IHS and nothing gets players more excited than knowing their school and community is behind them. I'm sure the same excitement is going on at Antioch, but there's is no doubt that the Indy boys are gunna be ready to go at kickoff.

    • Jason Lambert should be the only choice for the Baseball coaching position.
    • From the stats I found online it looks like Gabe Eddington- .484, 44 total hits, 43 runs scored and 42 stolen bases.Meanwhile, on the mound, the Austin Peay commit had a record of 8-2, while compiling 50 innings pitched with an ERA of 1.82. Carson Parrott - 7-0 overall as a starting pitcher with a 1.41 ERA, 95 strikeouts and a save in 53 and 1/3 innings pitched. Parrott hit .392 with 3 home runs, 21 RBIs with a .566 OBP and .716 SLG. Jaxon Walker - .454, 53 hits, 38 RBI’s, 9 HRs.   Not saying the other three aren’t deserving but Quillen had better BA than all three and was just as dominate pitching.  Like I said I don’t know how you leave off the 3a Baseball player of the year last year when he put up better numbers.  I know Greeneville’s Coach wasn’t happy about it saying “I don’t give a s*** what anybody else says. That kid is the best player in Tennessee, and everybody else on our team rises to his level“.  I’m sure winning another State Championship as a junior is more important to Carson than the individual award, it’s just a head scratcher to not be nominated
    • What coach in their right mind would want to come here and set theirself on fire to keep her warm.
    • Shoulder not going to the #### show .   Macon will name the score this year.
    • Plenty of time. The former coach was busy with family and disappeared all summer anyway. Obvious choice has the same family issues. First game is in March 2025.
