I think TCA is the better overall team. However, don't count Bruceton out. Chad Jordan is ranked 14th in the NATION in rushing this year and 25th in the NATION in scoring. If Bruceton can come out fired up and stop TCA for the first few series, then this game could get exciting. Alex Matlock gets overlooked by everybody, but he is a GAMECHANGER both offensively blocking for Jordan and especially defensively along with Matt Lane. But..... I think for Bruceton to win, they are going to have to pass the ball a little more often than they have all year. TCA is going to stack the line with 8 maybe 9 people in the box and make Bruceton beat them passing (good idea). With all of that said.... I will take Bruceton on the upset tonight at TCA in Jackson with a final score 40 - 35. Chad Jordan will get his yards, but look for Billy Stevens (WR for Bruceton) to be the MVP of this one in a sleeper roll. Get him the ball and he will make things happen!

Good Luck to both teams.

Wow...if someone had told me that Bruceton would throw for more yards than TCA I would have laughed....but TCA was determine to stop the run of Jordan...and they did! TCA needs to get that offense geared up for a tough McKenzie defense. I think it will be a great game and everybody will pick McKenzie...but thats okay...the Lions love being the underdogs! Great win TCA and good luck next week!

    • I have no affiliation with Maryville anymore outside of being a 2nd generation graduate from a large family of Rebel alumni. That relationship ended courtesy of the lame duck AD (a Bearden grad I might add) and the HBIC. That said, I could care less if a private school comes through and offers every promising athlete out of that school or any other school better opportunities.
    • A perfect example is for athletes at Clinton High School. I will completely understand, and hopefully everyone should understand why they want to, and as of right now, it looks like that’s going to happen in numbers over the summer.
    • I mean, that’s easy to say when it hasn’t happened to your school that often, if at all, but yeah, I think everybody should be for the student athlete or player. Whatever they think will help them or their athletic career, I feel like they should be able to do that, even if that means transferring schools. Now I don’t really get that when you have almost every offer you could want and then jump ship, but what can I say? I guess money talks.
    • I for one am all for it.
    • Covid killed the city because they chose not to play football in the 2020 season. Therefore, kids weren't able to practice and develop, and continuing to lift weights. Memphis basically had 7/8 graders, skipping a year, then playing 9/10 high school football. Now, there's only one team that has made a "dent" which will be Southwind (made it to the 5A semifinals last year).  If you want to go more suburbs, then it'll be Houston, which won the 6A state title, defeating Oakland Other than that, I agree.
