I think Scotty Smith left SD. Maybe went to Walker Valley? Does Barger have ties to SD? Why would John Allen leave the small private school to come to SD?

Anyone know for sure what happened to coach Scotty Smith? I played for him when he was the DC at McEwen back in 95. He was a good coach and in my opinion a great guy. If he isn't still at SD why did he leave?

Price led Soddy to their first ever playoff berth, back to back region titles in 95 and 96, a #2 state ranking in 96 that ended with loss in the third round to Jeff. County, the state runner up, so yes he would be welcomed back with wide open arms

I HOPE THAT COACH PRICE COMES BACK BECAUSE IT SOUNDS LIKE HE WOULD BE WELCOMED BACK.WHERE IS HE AT NOW,AND WHAT HAS BEEN HIS RECORD AT OTHER SCHOOLS HE HAS COACHED AT SINCE HE HAS BEEN COACHING THERE.I HOPE THINGS GO WELL NO MATTER WHO IS THE NEW COACH.

For the past 5 years coach Price has been at Coffee County where he has taken them to the playoffs 4 of those years, which is unheard of since they have only been in the playoff once before he got there.

I have been told that Coach Davis of Rhea County is interested in the job. He is our linebacker/running back/ special teams coach, and his son is our current QB and one of the best punters in the state.

I have heard that Rhea's coaching staff is looking to make an exit once again. I have heard that they are wanting out of there after another mediocre year. I have heard from some of the football players that they have heard he is wanting out.

It is true that Davis is interested in the Soddy job, and I have heard a few of the coaches are looking to go else where, but not all of them. Now I havn't personally talked to any of the coaches yet since it is break and I have been out of town for the last week and half, but as soon as I get back I will see what is going on. I really don't want to post anything untrue, but Davis is looking. Personally I hope Davis dosn't leave for a couple of different reasons. For example he is a very good coach, nice guy, hard worker, and he brings a lot to the program. Not to mention his son (Josh) has been a very big part of the team for the last two seasons.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
