The Pearl Cohn fighting Masons would seem to have the advantage here. Heard he got banged around pretty good last night...anything to worry about injury-wise for this young man. From everything he has put together this year he must really be a talent. Hope he can remain at full speed for the rest of this run of theirs.

According the Tennessean, Jacob Barker alone had 4 sacks on him last night. But he didn't look to be hurt, specially on his 49 yard TD run.

This game should be pretty good, just like the one before it. But I think PC is hitting their stride right about now. Though the Blue Devils can claim to having beaten PC this year, that was the situation last year and PC came back to win in the playoffs. My bets are for PC to win this game.

This will be a great game just as the regular season contest was back in week seven. White House won that game 14-12 because they ran the football just good enough to keep the Firebirds offense off of the field and then when PC did have their chances late it was the WH defense (especially the line) that turned up the heat and got after Mason.

Since that game there hasn't been a thread that involves either of these teams that has not reflected back on that game at least once. White House won the game but there are many who think it was a "fluke". Pearl Cohn lost in the regular season AGAIN to White House and there are many who think that WH "owns" Pearl Cohn in the season matchup.

THIS IS THE RUBBER MATCH FOR ALL OF THE MARBLES!!!!!

THESE TWO HAVE PLAYED EACH OTHER 6 TIMES & THE SERIES READS 3-3 BETWEEN THE TWO SCHOOLS AND NO TEAM IN THIS RIVALRY HAS EVER WON BACK-TO-BACK GAMES AGAINST THE OTHER!!!!!!

Keys for White House to win:

1.) Run the football: this allows the Firebirds offense to stay on the sidelines and Mason can't beat you with a water bottle in his hand

2.) Get pressure on Mason: if you can again get pressure on Mason this will allow you some chances to force turnovers and possibly even pick up a cheap score along the way

3.) Win the special teams battle: this was the difference in the first meeting this season and could again be what propels White House to the semifinals.

Keys for Pearl Cohn to win:

1.) Be Patient: if White House comes out early and gets a lead by running the ball PC can't try and force the issue against the Blue Devils because this is what they want the Firebirds to do

2.) Hit at least 3 "big plays": if Mason is to be successful again he will have to hit at least three big plays for scores or that may directly lead to scores because White House is not a "Wing-T" team when they have the ball on offense therefore they aren't tailor made for PC.

3.) Stop the run: in any game against White House stopping the run is mandatory for a win so Dixon & Payne can't control the tempo of the game by grinding the clock against PC. If PC stops the run and forces Greenwade to have to win the game then I like their chances.

NO PREDICTIONS NOW BUT THIS SHOULD MAKE FOR WHAT PLAYOFF FOOTBALL IS ALL ABOUT IN THE STATE OF TENNESSEE!!!!!!

Congrats to "Thunder and Lightening" on their 1,000 yard seasons. And, look for the sequel next year. I agree that WH needs to pressure Mason, and get some sacks and force some turnovers to win this game. I think turnovers will ultimately decide the game. Of course im picking WHITE HOUSE against a dangerous Pearl team. WH 17 Pearl 10.

The Devils are very playing very well now, dont think we had any injuries last night and for the first time in a long time everyone is healthy. The crowd was the best of the year so far,the band was in to it,it was alittle chilly, it was high school football at its best.We know what we have to do, we've done it.Play smart, listen to the coaches and dont give up the big play.Fans bring your A game.this should be a great game.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
