MBA vs. BA for STATE

What does that mean? Do old men in Florida take shots at anybody not from BA/MBA?

Thats a classless response to a rather cheesy post. You're losing it, but you're also getting older.

It kind of proves what most of us think about Ryan people (i.e., that you have a perpetual inferiority complex when it comes to us) that your only response to getting beat by us 42-7 is to come to the MBA-BA thread and either talk about how bad we're going to lose, or how insignificant this game is. But you wouldn't be Ryan people if you didn't do that.

I don't remember any MBA people coming on the BA-McCallie thread last year after BA had killed us 45-0 to talk about how bad McCallie was going to pound BA. But then again, why would we?

I thought it was simple enough to follow, but I had forgotten that you had joined us. What it means is that the Ryan poster is reduced to hoping that BA (or anybody else) will slay the evil Hun from West End, because Ryan has proven themselves utterly incapable of doing so over the last 11 years. The homeless reference is tweaking you because you don't have a home field.

And I haven't taken any shots at anybody from MBA or BA. I'm from MBA, and I like and respect most of the BA posters. They (or at least the ones who post here) are capable of intelligent debate about the topic at hand (football). There are classy Ryan posters, but they've left, since they no longer have a dog in this particular hunt.

I generally avoid shots at all. In years past, this board was filled with knowledgable students of the game who talked about the football and were capable of disagreeing in a civilized fashion. This year there was an influx of trash talkers and children, and the quality of the posts has been the worse for it. In retrospect, I should have just stopped checking in here, but the occasional post about football, especially from somebody who has some sense of history, is a strong lure.

And if the best shot you can come up with is to tweak someone over their age, an inevitability, then you need to avoid intellectual battles at all cost, because you're unarmed.

No, he's referring to Ryan's lack of a stadium. I really don't understand why the Irish keep thinking MBA is their cross town rival. The rivalry has to actually be competitive as in a bit more than 11 straight MBA wins...Back to the BA story. Give the Big Red some credit. The running game worked rather effectively to put 13 points on the Board against the huge BA D-line...and with continual improvent on the passing play, look for a TD from Spencer Wise. Yes, Chris Jordan is back...but Mcgugin has some tricks up his sleeve to contain the recruit. 12-0...13-7...final score:

MBA 24

BA 17

A huge year for McGugin and the Boys.

. . . and by "recruit" we assume you mean of Alabama/Clemson etc.?

No, I think he is talking about Flatt's recruits. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

. . . uh, it's called a "rhetorical question" . . .

As tarheel1 alluded to, anyone who knows CJ or his story wouldn't be so stupid as to make that type of comment. It's out of place coming from someone who would appear, by his blind support of MBA, to be a private school supporter. It's even more strange from a poster who was worried about others posting "crap" on the board . . .

That is exactly what we need. We need MBA to go out of there way to stop CJ and then we must execute our passing game. The only way to contain CJ is a tranquilizer rifle or more people devoted to the run. I am pretty sure the brilliant "trick" will be more people in the box. So, we execute the passing game and we win. If we don't we will probably lose. I don't expect CJ to have a big night. I thnk MBA will have the game plan: "you may beat us, but it will not be with CJ"

Normally people start all of the "recruit" talk after getting beat. I think you must have a bad feeling about the game and you are not being totally honest with us. Just a theory.

Wow, I didnt know the only sport FR and MBA played each other in was football! Man, I must be out of the loop.

And KWoodDrof, you misread my post. I said you take shots at anyone not from MBA/BA. And please, spare us any grief for beating a team in the past decade that has a losing and a rebuilding period.. you won't prove anything really. The only time FR met MBA in the championship.. I believe we won? We don't carry any arrogance to that fact.

See ya on the mat.... that won't be much of a challenge for Ryan though.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
