19 straight years of at least 20 wins? Amazing!

 

Hats off to the Pioneers for playing Oakland a tough game. I felt they should have beat the brakes off of Cookeville though. If they can find some consistancy from the starters they will get that first district win!

 

Give Cookeville their due, they beat Lebanon Tues. night and Lebanon destroyed us. I agree we really had a good chance to beat Cookeville, but whenever a team can go on the road and win, you have to give Cookeville their due. Maybe we can return the favor when we go up there !!

Maybe we can return the favor to Blackman tomorrow night. I think if they shut down Carter like White Co. did, and grab some more boards we have a chance. I noticed that in the Oakland game we were giving them more second chances at a score than we needed to give them although it didn't hurt us that bad. If they tighten up on that part of the game they will give Blackman a good game.

I totally agree, "Phoenix", I really feel this is a great match-up for us, just don't know if we can close a game out when it gets down to the last 5 minutes. Go Pioneers.

I understand your concern, but I feel that we are playing more loose and the boys are starting to realize what it takes to get it done. I would love to see them put it all together against Blackman.

Weitzel should be fired up after the rough game he had Tuesday. The guards need to hit some three's and drive the lane and make things happen!

 

What's everyone's take on the Harris firing?

Weitzel had some scouts there looking at him Tuesday night and I think that he put pressure on himself. The gaurd play has got to keep up the hustle. Play lock down defense tonight boys and you will put your self in position to win the game!

 

The Harris firing I do not agree with.

The only thing I don't agree with on Harris getting fired is if your gonna fire him you need to fire a whole lot more! BTW I thought the coaches didn't answer to Jacobs?? It's that's true why was he part of firing Harris? If it's not true than how can Eades still be coaching???

You bring up some excellent questions! What about paying a OC $2400 a year? How in the world can we expect anyone to come here and be part of a coaching staff for chump change?

      Honestly the A.D. may be powerless at Maryville to some degree versus other schools. I know he has his hands full with GoFan and all the stupid surprises just from the emails he sends out during the season.

      Harriman was better than what I anticipated. They had good skill guys and a QB that’s gonna make a lot of teams look silly. They had some silly pre snap penalties but it’s just spring and I guess that’s expected.    Oneida looks the part. They are big upfront and got a stable of backs that’s gonna carry them this year. They have a few playmakers at receiver also. They have a new receiver that has only played basketball till this year and he is very athletic. The question is can we find a QB to consistently get them the ball. They played 2-3 kids there and none looked great but they didn’t look awful either. The  defense is gonna be tough again but it’s very early and a lot can change between now and the fall.     It was good just to get out and watch some ball. I don’t know if Oneida has the team to win the region this year but just what I saw tonight I think they may be in the conversation come November.
