I know. I'd pick OC/DB, but both are good matchups.

Dyersburg is in a position to influence the District outcome more than anyone else, and they have the talent to beat anyone on a given night. Just remember what they wound up doing last year after a mediocre regular season (they won the District).

With the OC loss at Milan this past Friday night, GC is back in the driver's seat and can control their own destiny and finish with the top spot , a first round bye, and an automatic regional berth in the tournament /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" />

Milan is starting to play like the Milan team everyone feared at the beginning of the season.. The leadership of the two talented seniors(Poston & Gray) will determine how far the Lady Dawgs will go in the post-season. Still could see three(and perhaps four) teams from 13AA playing each other in the regional semifinals /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

I have not had the chance to see Northside yet this year. Does anyone have a feel for how they stack up against OC, GC, Milan and Dyersburg ? I know D'burg took them to OT early in the year.

I have seen NS play a few times this year. 2 guard Ross is a true leader (signed with Union). She is much like Gray from Milan in the way she plays, size etc. They have a freshman PG who is a young Fussell, same size, athletic ability, jumps well, all the raw ability, just a little more fine tuning . Something you will hear about for he next 3 years for sure. Smith inside is big & strong and just buries people under the basket, along with 3 other very big girls. DB took them to OT @ DB. The they beat DB @ NS by 14. Only loss to Mcnairy in a close game. Any of the top 4 can defeat NS. But Ns will not lay down for sure. Hold Ross and Smith to 12-15 each and you got a good chance.

As for Northside, the last three years I have been hearing the same things about them, pretty much, soft schedule, several from 13AA should beat them etc..... and for the last three years they advanced and left a good 13AA team in their wake. Don't get me wrong. I am all for 13AA but I would not want to have to play Northside in the regions.

I have always thought that a tough schedule made you better come tourney time. NS has disproved that theory the last few years. The advantage I see is that in 13AA you have to sustain a high level of play to compete every game. NS only has to get up for 2 or 3 games a year. When tourney time rolls around it is just another game for 13AA. NS is on an all year high.

You are correct, that is the way it has turned out. Last year, I though Dyersburg was peaking and had at the talent to get past NS, but NS brought their always tough defense and put D'burg away. The disadvantage NS has is not being in enough big game situations to learn how to win the close ones. I think that has stopped them from advancing further and it will probably stop them this year in the region. Plus, it does not sound like they have quite the experience and talent of last year.

Good points about North Side. I just don't think they'll make it past the region semifinals, if the first round, this year. In tomorrow night's games, I'll take Gibson Co., Obion Co., and Milan.
