These two teams have something in common. They both drilled Pickett County in Byrdstown. York has a good team this year, but LA is too strong. I'm going to pick my Cats by 16. Just no answer for Dunn.

Well you were right on ALL 5 statements! But this game in a word was UGLY! Neither team looked very good at all thru 3 quarters. If either had been playing someone good who was on their game, they would have been blown out of the gym. LA (or should I say Dunn) finally got it together in 4th quarter. It was 54-50 and LA ended with a 13-1 run to make the final 67-51. Not sure but I think TJ Smith and Dunn probably had around 50 of LA's 67.

You are correct OldCatFan about this being an ugly game. Neither team played their best but LA just has too much talent. York has a good club this year and will improve over the course of the season. I look for them to make some noise come tournament time. You just can't say enough about Chase Dunn. The kid is probably the best pound-for-pound player in the state. He scored 34 and T.J. Smith added 20. That's a great 1-2 punch but we definitely need some other guys to step up on offense.

YES THE GAME WAS U-G-L-Y. LA HAD NO POST PLAY, SHAME ON THEM THE BIGEST KIDS ON THE FLOOR AND NO ACTION CAN'T EVEN HIT OPEN LAY UPS . LAST NIGHT I FELT T.J. SMITH WAS BETTER THAN DUNN, NEVER FELT HE HAD MUCH 'D' BUT LAST NIGHT THE KID HAD IT ALL. HE GETS MY VOTE FOR PALYER OF THE NIGHT. AND YES, PLAYING A GOOD, TEAM NOT THAT YORK WASN'T GOOD, YOU BETTER HAVE MORE THAN 2 PLAYERS. LA WILL WIN IT ALL IN THE DISTRICT BUT TO GET THE BIG TICKET PUNCHED THEY HAD BETTER STEP IT UP, AND I AM SURE COACH MELTON KNOWS THAT AND WILL BE WORKING ON IT, HE IS A GREAT COACH.

Just wanted to congratulate York's student section on their continuous holding up of the 33-0 football score over LA. Something to be proud of. The LA-York football series has been so one-sided over the last 10-12 years it is pitiful. Up until this year, combined score over the last 5 years is 141-68 all LA wins. I have always been a firm believer that you don't boast about something until you have something to boast about. Oh by the way, last night made SEVEN straight wins for the LA boys over York. But at the famous 33-0 York win this year, I didn't see any LA students holding up any of the last SIX(before last night) basketball game scores. Enjoy your successes against LA, they will be few in number.

I will have to agree....it wasn't a pretty game but we got it done.

Chase Dunn is always a big factor. He always puts up impressive numbers....he can draw a foul like no other. But, I want to say.....TJ Smith is a baller! I was so impressed with him.... he has a nice shot & the kid can jump! TJ Smith is really going to be a force for LA. I know where TJ gets it...his mom & dad were both great players. TJ's Dad is from York & his Mom is from LA....I'm glad TJ ended up in Livingston!

I do believe that Livingston did the same thing last year. Don't dish it out if you can't take it. Pay back stinks doesn't it?!

    • The Girls Basketball team I am a part of played for a gold ball this season. One of the biggest differences in the sports is that there is no field prep/maintenance in basketball.   Our baseball is successful and play 30 games in the regular season as well. All of the teams dedicate A LOT of time in preparing for their next opponent.
    • “facts” or better yet ‘opinions’ had been up for weeks/months. that’s not why the thread was deleted. get over yourself.
    • Im pretty excited about the new rules that NFHS voted to adopt. Does anyone know if this will take place in Tennessee starting this year? I think I heard/read somewhere that the TSSAA bi-laws say the have to mirror what the NFHS does, and when the NFHS offered the current weight classes as options, TSSAA didn’t adopt them until NFHS made them official. Did NFHS make these changes official starting next season or will it be similar to the weight classes where TSSAA doesn’t change what they are doing until it is  an officially official part of the NFHS rule book? It’ll be interesting to see if it is rolled out for the new TSSAA Middle School season and I saw a post where the youth wrestling in TN was going to vote on adopting it as well.  I’ll pray for all the youth coaches that will have to shoulder the confusion from all those crazy #### parents who already think they know the rules more than everyone else  . Imagine the first time their kid is taken down and a 3 goes up on the scoreboard or their kid gets pinned with only one point of contact in the cylinder. Their heads might explode. i kid, I kid. Sort of. I’m surprised ride time was brought down with all the other changes. I know some argue that it promotes stalling on top, but its been an official scoring method in college forever, so I figure it must be doing something right. Do any of you think that’ll ever be implemented?
    • Crazy how the thread just gets deleted when facts come out.
    • I understand I guess it depends on the school you are with and the time you want to put in.  It’s evident of the schools that don’t put in as much times.  I would say basketball players put in as much time as any sport in our school system and this is coming from a football town.  Bball is a longer season than other sports.
