I watched them this year play William Blount and the kid from WB missed two extra points /sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> . Maryville won 20 - 19. People who are not around football on a regular basis simply do not understand what it takes to do what Maryville has accomplished!! Enjoy the ride while it lasts!! Philster043
That's great. But it's somewhat funny too. Imagine if Alcoa didn't have to play Maryville the last 4 years. They probably would have gone 60-0 as well. Imagine two teams from Blount County going 60-0. That would be crazy. I didn't know there was a team with a current winning streak even longer than we had (South Panola).

I live here in Mississippi now (would love to move back to Maryville) and South Panola is the real deal. I can forsee them giving De La Salle and Independance a run on their win streaks. nickknx865
What if Maryville passes De La Salle? Don't think it will happen though. 151 games is like 10-15 seasons of going undefeated
itzme
It's an incredible accomplishment at any level. Who knows, one more year and they can move into the top 5 alltime. Quite a credit to the program, and an obvious and well-earned source of pride for the Maryville folks.
hvillefootball
I don't think anyone will ever reach that De La Salle mark. The seniors on that team that finally lost I think were in kindergarten when the streak started, so it was like 13-14 years of no losses. Congrats Maryville, I wonder what will happen to the streak once they move up to 5A though. I think they will still be VERY good, but won't go undefeated every season. ORcat14
I wouldn't be surprised to see the streak go over 100 games. George Quarles is 123-9 all time and Maryville shows no signs of slowing down.
TraderB
I live here in Mississippi now (would love to move back to Maryville) and South Panola is the real deal. I can forsee them giving De La Salle and Independance a run on their win streaks. Rebel96, I've seen the University of South Panola play several times (most recently during the Mississippi State Title game)... I am in TOTAL agreement with you about USP being the real deal, and threatning the all-time win steak mark. As a side note, I must say this: I have NEVER in my life (and I've seen many a teams, from Oklahoma to Kansas, Tennessee and Mississippi) seen a high school team as HUGE, fast and skilled and USP's. Wow! It's almost unfair. They look like a darn College team or something....Oddly they kinda remind me of those (Coach Barry Switzer) dominant "wish-bone" teams from the University of Oklahoma: opponents KNEW what was coming (the run), but were still powerless to stop it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ QUESTION: What on earth are they putting in the food supply and/or water, down there in Batesville (home of SP)--seriously? Rebel96, it seems that every year USP's frontline (on both sides of the ball) routinely comes in averaging around 260-280 lbs, AND are as strong as oxes! They just blow everybody off the ball and ram it right down the opponents throats, all night long. Nothing fancy--just plain ol' brute strength, coupled with skill and speed.... Amazing, simply amazing!
REBELRON
I saw their state title game from 2005 on TV. I couldn't believe the size of those kids. They were monsters.
warriordawg31
South Panola is absolutely the real deal, but just up the road is North Panola -and whoever heard of them? It is more than just something in the water around Batesville. SP has even gone through a change of head coaches and still keeps on rolling. I don't know about them challenging the all-time win streak though - that is an amazing record to beat. Maryville is also the real deal, and it doesn't matter who you play or what classification you are in - win 60 in a row and you have to be recognized as something special.
