I know I am late but it is time for my Gold ball piks for this season.

I went 0-3 last year and 0-6 in the past two but.......................... I know I got at least one lock this year....

Here they are and my Silver ball picks which may not even be possible but I will put my opinion of the 2nd best team

A................Jackson County- here is the pick that will break for 0-6 streak. I like Wayne County for the Silver

AA..............Marshal County- Went deep last year and have the expierience to go all the way this year. I like Upperman for the Silver

AAA............Shelbyville- I pick them every year and if they do not win it this year it could be a long time before there a contender again. I like Wilson Central for the Silver.

Well let the bashing begin.......................

Clarkrange may prove you wrong.

I can't comment on the rest.

NS is over-rated. Take a look at their schedule and tell me if you see an impressive team on their schedule. I did all of their opponents win/loss record combined on another thread and it was unbelievable. I think only 2 teams they had played had winning records. I think from out West it'll be Gibson Co./Obion Co. but I'm not sure how the East teams are this year.

I don't know the state brackets yet but I think the following teams will make it.

A:

Cloudland

Oliver Springs

Jackson County

Clarkrange

Collinwood

Wayne County

Middleton

Bradford

I think Jackson County for the Gold and Clarkrange for the Silver.

AA:

Stone Memorial

South Greene

Livingston Academy

Upperman

Marshall County

Ezell Harding

Obion County

Gibson County

I think Obion County will win the Gold and Livingston the Silver.

AAA:

Oak Ridge

Greeneville

Cleveland

Shelbyville

Wilson Central

Hillsboro

Millington

Memphis Northside

I think Oak Ridge for the Gold and Wilson Central for the Silver.

Right now, Wilson Central is the best in the state. I have seen them, and Mt. Juliet, Greeneville, and all Memphis has to offer. But the best does not always win state. Wilson Central does not always play their best game. Hassell might be as good as anyone in the state, but sometimes their guards forget they have such a great player and they get selfish to get their own. If they become a TEAM, and just play ball, I think no one can touch them, but since that will never happen, a lot of team have a chance. Apparently, Hillsboro is really good, the won at Mt. Juliet, something no team has done in several years.

Good post WestTN, I've said that before. It's great to have some very talented players but it still takes a team approach and mind set, and you don't have to look around too far to see teams with one or two outstanding players that aren't racking up wins on a regular basis.IMO good teams can get the ball to their good players, great teams play unselfishly. WC can do that and I think they played that way against Mount Juliet. To me, that is the key to going after another Gold ball for WC.

I have to admit I don't know much about Millington. What kind of competition do they face in their area?

    • I believe that was last year. I was interested in the Jones vs Baker comment, so I went back and looked at GC. I am not a fan of either nor am I a baseball guru. This looks like to me the duel was not close and if the errors would not have been made Eagleville would have won. I assume you are a little biased. I do think your mph for Jeffcoat and Baker must be from last year.  Baker-85 pitches 67 strikes. 5.2 innings, 5H, 1BB, 0ER and 7K's. 3 errors  Jones- 78 pitches 37 strikes. 4 innings, 2H, 5BB, 0ER and 1K. 1 error   Adams and the UH kid are really good as well. What about South Pitt and Oakdale? I heard they have some good ones.
    • I hate this for all the kids in the program and fans alike. I can't recall of anything like this before in my lifetime but I'm sure it isn't a first. After criminal investigations are complete and the TSSAA looks into this the program it will be facing Nuclear Winter for some time to come. It's always the innocent left behind that end up paying the price for something someone else has done. I'm sure the transfer portal will be very active in Clinton over the summer months. How could you find a good coach worth his salt that would take on a situation like this not knowing what will happen.
    • I’ve seen Jeffcoat in person twice and he was 84-87 both times and the one time I saw Baker he was low 80’s, he actually got out dueled by Jones from ER in that outing.
